• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

That's a hefty wage for us. Can't be true, shirley?

I'm struggling to believe that the owners are that stupid.
Then again it's their money so they can do what they like with it.

The brum comms yesterday said it was 7m, at least they managed to pronounce Vipotnic unlike the Hull pundits who called him Vip Tonic all game 😃

We couldn't buy LoB because his wage demands were around that.
Rumoured to be more to story than just wages. His wife was reported not that keen and they would be far from family as she was expecting at the time.

Seems highly unlikely to me, but if true

*baseless theory incoming*

I wonder if this pursuit of Idah and the financial resources allegedly thrown at it was part of the reason for the break with Montague? (Pursuing a different direction in recruitment etc.)

I’d say unlikely considering Montague’s vision was buying low and selling for higher profit, this deal is complete opposite to what he seemed passionate about imo.

At first it seemed like a made up wage. But when you think about it, he had signed for Celtic last year from a top Championship side and he had a five year deal with Norwich. So Celtic would have had to offer him a good deal to get him in the first place. Then we would have had to have raised that again. So it is probably a huge amount for us. With the fee involved, it is a big outlay. One that may hold us back in the future if it does not go right. At least he should score goals if we create for him.
