The ‘Vítor Matos’ Managerial Thread

I have absolutely no idea, same as every other poster on this board. I’m not going to start making things up as to why they did, it’s completely pointless and how shite rumours start and spread.

The lie is halfway around the world before truth has got his trousers on, as they say.
I never made anything up i just ventured to say why we went after him instead of a "name"

4 years is complete madness. We'll be bankrupt in League two in 4 years the way this is going.
Properly to spread the termination figure to help with PSR rules. They did the same with few players. Which means around what was reported he will be on around 300k or there about a year.

For 2.5 of those years we'll also be paying Sheehan's contract.

Definitely a left field appointment, I'd love to know what led us to go for him.
No info about his backroom staff yet by the looks of it.
We went for him because Middlesbrough poached Hellberg, and left them scrambling around to find someone else quickly.

Don’t think he’s a scramble appointment, plenty of options out there - Thorup, Still, Carrick. Wasn’t first choice but isn’t from out of nowhere, they clearly wanted him.

The length of the deal doesn't matter as much as the value of it.

For example, a four year deal for £150k a year costs the same overall as a three year deal on £200k. Could well have been structured that way for tax purposes.
There are no tax purposes that would apply. And we’re hardly going to get someone saying they’ll work for less as long as it’s longer!

It will perhaps have been done because of the cost of breaking his existing contract.

Gets spread over length of contract for FFP purposes.

To be honest, that suggests either (a) it’s loads nearer the figure given by the Portuguese than the figure given by Dimi via usual sources or (2) we are stupidly tight on FFP to the extent that a ‘saving’ of 25k is worth an additional year on a contract. In fact, even if it’s 1m euros, the saving is only 83k per year for FFP.

Alternatively he’d only join for a four year deal. And we’re mugs.

Yes, we’ve been awful all season and managed to pick up 17 points from somewhere. You don’t do that if the players you have are completely hopeless.

We know Vigs is good enough, we’ve seen full seasons from Cabango and Tymon, we know they are Championship quality. Galbraith is a good player. Vipotnik will score if you give him a sight at goal. There is a decent spine to this side. In my view, they have been asked to play in a way that doesn’t suit them.

I’ve said it all season, we aren’t top 6 but we’re a Hell of a lot better than where we are at the moment.
Yep. Problem is everyone on here is black and white. If you say the players are better than they've shown they'll shoot you down and say you're demanding play offs

Wonder if he will look at any free agents, Oxlade Chamberlain who he worked with at Liverpool might be one short term.

O'Dea was doing the same fugazi made-up job at Celtc as Matos was doing at Liverpool. Head of pathway development whatever shit they made up to give them a job. If he's even remotely similar to what I just saw (got to be some of the worst substitutions I've seen in football), we will be in league 1 by the end of March.

That's like throwing a dart at a board or putting your hand into a snake pit. How can you even at this stage compare the 2? We don't know what Matos can do and just because they have had similar roles you can't put them in the same bracket. At least give new manager a chance.

Expert on Celtic affairs are you?

The lineup I could forgive him going "safe" even if I didn't like it
But I agree the substitutions were utterly bizarre

Taking off a full back and moving a center half to full back so that you can introduce... a center half. While 2-0 down
Then taking off the other full back to introduce a defensive midfielder

Utterly bizarre substitutions that left us with absolutely no cohesive shape or formation plan from what I could see
