Middlesbrough leading at Sheffield United 2 nil after 60 mins currently top of the table
New manager doing well with a good squad of players .
Could this be the season Steve Gibson Middlesbrough Chairman see his club back on the Premier League .

Just thinking how much we will compassionately commiserate with Coventry's bunch of gloating b'stard fans if they were to fail going up automatically and miss out on the play off spot.
Hopefully Carlsberg do Championship tables and play offs at the seasons end.
And we go up instead of Cov :ROFLMAO:

Though I'm extremely pleased with Matos, Hellberg was the man i would have given the job to instead of Sheehan. We dillied and dallied , finally shit the bed , and lost out on him.

It was the right thing to do to give Sheehan the chance even though it didn’t work out. There’s no guarantee Helberg would’ve worked with us. Things happen for a reason and I’m definitely not disappointed we ended up with Matos

I watched it - cracking game, fair play. I thought Boro were outstanding. I wouldn't want us to play them any time soon. From what I've seen they're a better team than Coventry, and they play them next week I think. I'd laugh my socks off if Coventry didn't win auto promotion - nothing personal, obvs. BTW, Morgan Whittaker still flatters to deceive.

Sheff Utd were typically industrial and outplayed for long periods but came back well in the last 20. I wouldn't want to play them, either. Horror tackle by Rothwell - deservedly sent off.

In other news, Mellberg could pass for Morgan McSweeney in a dark alley. Topical!

Most probably the best performance from an away team this season and Boro should have scored five goals in the first half. Very reminiscent of Leon's return at Bristol City where we won 2-0 in our PL promotion winning season. Pace, triangles in our half, first time passing and deadly finishing.

Boro always had a player spare with their one touch football, look excellent going forward. Saying that, the Blades opened them up a few times with better finishing could have got something.

Three intriguing relegation battles being played tonight, don't know which one to watch. Not to mention some good Premiership matches.
I think it has to be the second city battle though, Brum versus the Baggies.

Certainly no guarantee it would have worked with Hellberg and so far so good with Matos.
Not so sure it was the right thing to do with Sheehan, he did a job last season but got it off the back of it and his close friendships he had created in the club. It seemed like the right thing at the time giving Sheehan the job but I think hindsight it was probably something that shouldn't have been done and was a big waste of the first few months of this season.

I don't know about the right decision but it was completely understandable, the backlash they would have gotten for appointing someone else and then that not working out would have been unholy given Sheehan's record as caretaker.

I wonder what Rob Edward's thoughts are this morning .
Did I make the right decision leaving a well run Championship Club who are now top of the League to Wolves going to be relegated
Who sell their best players .

You don't have to be Captain Hindsight to see that appointing Sheehan turned out to be the wrong decision.

It's also easy to see a Sliding Doors alternate reality where we appointed Hellberg instead of the interim manager who'd delivered a great run of results and guided us to mid-table. Hellberg could then have struggled here, while Sheehan goes elsewhere and does well (like Williams at Peterborough), leading to people saying it was a mistake not to appoint him.

I'm just happy we seem to have the right manager in place now.

Edwards family live in Shropshire which was partly the reason he went to Wolves.

And the cash😁
