• We have today (22nd April) confirmed the closure of JackArmy.net on 31st May. Our reasons are varied but after a twenty-five year stint at the heart of the online Swansea City community, the time is right for us to bow out.

Where will people go after this?
Just so I know where to avoid! 😆🤣
Have really enjoyed the conversations and observations of people here and it’s sad that this is ending.

I'd probably give Vital a go if enough posters from here made the move.

Having seen plenty of posters I like conversing with indicating they won't move anywhere else once this forum closes, I imagine I won't be posting anywhere else either.

Nowhere, it’s the end of an institution. It’ll be time to close the final chapter of a well read book that you turned to when you were happy, when you were sad, when you were feeling mischievous. It was something for everyone, for all occasions.

I’m gutted this place is going. I can set up a new forum also, but I’ve got a young boy and another on the way imminently. I don’t have the time to run a site on my own at this point in my life. I’ve seen a fair few posters who say they’re capable but not willing to solely take on the responsibility.

I’m happy to get involved with a group of people working together to get a new forum set up. Because it will be a shame to see this community get scattered like it will be if there is no replacement. I’m guessing the current mods will be happy to continue in a new forum?

There’s definitely enough willing and skills to get a new site up and running if we can get a working group together.

To add to that Phil has done such a fantastic job all this time. It’s humongous boots to fill. This community is massive and it would be a very daunting task for any person to take it on and try to match what Phil has managed to do.

So I think if people are serious about wanting to keep a home for this community. There should be a collective effort to make that happen. I’m very new to this site posting wise, long time lurker. But I really don’t want to see it go and I’m willing to do my bit to keep it going. I just can’t do it on my own.

I can't commit to running it on my own, but I'd like to help keep this place running.

Perhaps someone would like to set up a thread for those willing to commit so there's a good idea of how many, and what skills they have to band together.

Yeah definitely need to get some kind of meeting together for people interested I think.

We would also need to ensure people on this site would be willing to move to a new one. As I understand Phil is unwilling to pass over the reigns for this one.
