Living abroad gives you a more distant perspective - so I am quite prepared to be shot down.
HOWEVER - Labour only need to do one thing to be a shoe in at the next election.
Present a fact driven analysis of the catastrophe that has been Brexit and promise that Labour will seek the support of the electorate to rejoin the EU.
The facts and consequences were never properly presented (even partly), and the need to align with "proper" allies like the EU Canada Australia New Zealand Japan and South Korea has become an imperative before the US and China carve up the world.

This is why Starmer is struggling there’s no leadership - with strong communication we’d be on fast track back but instead they’ve bottled it and let reform off the hook for a catastrophe. It’s insane that they’re not chased out of town let alone in chance of getting in.

Labour need to understand it’s about winning not about purity. The only candidates should be from the right of the party and be good communicators.

She’s introduced legislation which extending time lines for granting certain statuses, introduced increased levels of checks and reviews on applications, she’s pushing on with the completion of a detention centre in Dunkirk and the number of crossings so far this year s down on previous years.

Enforcement is also up.

Between 1 July 2024 and 31 January 2026, 58,539 people were returned (enforced and voluntary), a 31% increase on the preceding nineteen-month period.

In the year ending (YE) December 2025, there were 9,900 enforced returns, a 21% increase compared to the previous year.

Between July 2024 and December 2025, immigration raids increased by 77% and arrests by 83%. In the year ending September 2025, 11,000 raids were conducted.

Returns of FNOs increased by 11% to 5,600 in the YE Dec

Chris Philip and the Conservatives are bleating and whinging, but she’s done more in her short tenure than they did whilst they were in power ! Why didn’t they make the changes Mahmoud has? She told police to stop investigating legal but offensive tweets and the French aren't going to stop immigrants leaving if we don't pay them, why would they?

I'm sure the left of the party won't agree but I think she's probably the most successful cabinet minister since COVID.
