Season 24/25 | The Official Match Night Thread | Swansea City 3 Plymouth Argyle 0 | Att: 14,978 | The EFL Championship

Fully 50% of their turnover is sponsorships and advertising. It can’t last.

    2023/24 Financial Statements

Yes (if I were a shareholder/ business owner) I would spend as much as I could afford on the academy. We have a big catchment area, and hence first shot at a decent talent pool. It’s also the best shot at that money making transfer which helps the club fund itself.

    2023/24 Financial Statements

This all feels about right to me. Reflecting on the last 3 yrs accounts while sweeping leaves … - we turn over about £20 m - we spend about £40 m. I do actually think this will be player wages and other legit expenses. It doesn’t look like a situation where the shareholders are scalping the...

    New Manager

Silly thing for him to say, though, because he can’t control the arrival of a new manager (what if they all say no?). Perhaps he meant he was given a short term (one month) contract as caretaker, which expires around now?

    Vintage Photos

Found this picture on some hoardings around the Mumbles tennis courts by the prom the other day, as part of a local history thing. That’s my Dad at the back right. Storyofmumbles.org is a wonderful website.

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 0 Sheffield Wednesday 1 | Att: 14,149 | The EFL Championship

Well, if I can share my 2 cents’ worth (given that this is likely to be my one game of the season) … Three at the back usually means one less in midfield. Fine if the three really add something with their passing, but our three don’t. They just delay the ball going forward. We lack a centre...

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Norwich 5 Swansea 1 | The EFL Championship

A fine city though. Anyone who is prepared to travel should make a weekend of it. Great place: good architecture (esp. UEA) and delicious beer plus river and the cathedral close. I went to a few Norwich games back in the day and the vibe was very Swansea: oh &ck, not again. Relegation in about...

    Vic Gomersall

That is exactly the memory I have of him, ironically I would have been under the double decker and seeing him (in my memory) at the far end of the field, but when Vic got going you had a feeling something would happen and the noise off the North Bank would rise …

    Man City Claim Legal Victory

It is going to be a minefield. They (MCFC) seem to have pulled the tactically brilliant stunt of pulling all shareholder related business into the same ‘what if it was arms length/ truly independent’ bucket. So all shareholder loans can be challenged - if not at a ‘market’ rate. Whatever that...

    Glamorgan 2024 Season ...

Really excited, brilliant achievement for the players and everyone at the club. Work out what you’re good at (several of the XI barely play FC cricket), build a plan around that and deliver reliably.

    Our support…

Actually, a church for every week and a pub for every day (was the saying). I visited over 200 pubs in 5 yrs living there. It is a good place to live with countryside and coast as attractive, though in a different way, to S Wales. More saliently (on support), the county of Norfolk has a...

    Leighton James RIP

What a talented player. Not many could dribble fast and forwards like him. Memorably good. People like Saka, Foden could usefully look at him as a means to improve. I think he lived down the road from Mum and Dad for a while, in Highmead Avenue? This was in his playing days.

    Martin Amis

Brought up in Swansea from about 1 yo. Now gone. Today. He and his dad tell great stories of Swansea life in their time, ie the 1950s. His novels were ‘off piste’ for me, but he knew what he was doing. Respect.
