Vip - the hattrick that never was

Definitely be happy with VIP and Yates as the strikers.

Creative 10, a 10 as an alternative in style to Cullen with a decent winger and Vipotnik would benefit from it.

All easy in thought but certainly a player there in Vipotnik if we could get a bit more quality in and around him, I also think the competition in Yates would not harm him either.
I've always been of the mindset, like others, that this squad is nowhere near as bad as Luke was making it. And Sheehan has proved that.

Next season, keep it simple. Widdel already in, maybe see about another loan for LOB if affordable but probably not. Try and get Darling to extend, permanent deal for Delcroix. Get Allen and Naughton coaching.

New right backs and left backs to compete, another centre midfielder, winger and number 10.

On a totally different scale..granted, but I remember watching Michu in a pre season friendly when he signed thinking ' what a fckn donkey ', look how that turned out.
I'm not a Vipo fan but just maybe this season is a sighter for him and next year will be his year.

Goes to show how hamstrung we have been over the past few years with crap self indulgent wannabe managers.

Sheez and his diluted quorum has shone that light brightly.

Our richly assembled talented young squad of proper gems is now blossoming with a bang average manager who’s just trying to the right thing, in the right way, for the right reasons.

And with our new best-in-class recruitment apparatus and next level funding, we’ll be proper next level, prompto.

I don't think it's a great squad, we have a nucleus of decent players but I think as a squad we are about right as a whole regards league position.
I think if we can get the recruitment right with a good winger or 2 and creative 10 then we could make a push as a solid mid table team.

We are having a bit of a resurgence under Sheehan but things will settle again, I don't think it will be as bad as it was in Williams last month or so with us though.

Big summer coming up again.
Widdel on paper looks a good start

No mention of Matty sky blue... you feeling okay..

Next season having Vip and Yates will be two good options. Vip as starter.

He's always had it. Can easily score 20 at this level with the right coaching
I think he will next season too. Thought he was an utter dud earlier this season

Spot on, and in much the same way that the squad Martin had available to him was better than finishes of tenth and fifteenth and a run of three wins in 24+ games. That's Sheehan's biggest plus point for me. He doesn't seem (yet) bound to any particular kind of way of playing that he's trying to force the players into and struggling to get results. Thus far he's mostly picked them in their best positions and asked them to play the way that they know how.

One of the things that people find hardest to accept about this division is that most squads of players are very much the same. You'll have two or three really good sides (mostly the relegated ones), two or three really crap ones (mostly the promoted) and everyone else in the middle is either a good year away from a playoff spot or a bad year away from a relegation battle.

Even at the start of the season I never bought into the idea that our squad was particularly weak in comparison with most of the teams that we were competing with. Just poorly managed by a Russy clone.

Well apparently it's forbidden to mention Grimes - but it now seems it's ok to do so if slagging him off. Rightio.

I always prefer to look forward - right now I am applauding our new Owners for delivering next level funding and a next level best-in-class recruitment apparatus for securing Premier League player LOB to replace our captain and leader.

With our new Owners and best-in-class processes, people and systems - we now have the makings of the perfect platform to deliver proper next level stuff. LOB is just the beginnings.........to whet our appetite

We’ve come on 100% since he left us. No doubt in part to his replacement who’s head and shoulders above him in all departments.
The squad also seems much happier now and are playing with a freedom not seen when both Williams and the previous no 8 were here.

Eom has come on really well. He has 2 goals and an assist. And more chances on goal since Williams has left. He like VP and Franco still have a lot to learn, but alot of people forget its their first season in the championship.

Everyone’s come on under Sheehan. Which is weird, as he was here anyway but must not have been able to have much of a say in things. I thought Franco’s been quieter under Sheehan, but I think that’s just because he’s having to do less covering. He was involved in a lot of the attacking side last night which is something we rarely saw under Williams.

Vip? I’m not sure how he’s going to go. I’m on a bit of a downer with him; he doesn’t impress me at all, but I’m hope I’m wrong about him and he takes off at some point.

Nah, it’s Williams going that made the difference. We put in crap performances after Grimes left. It all changed in the first game after Williams went. That’s not to say there weren’t problems with Grimes, but he can’t be blamed for the performance of a whole team. You may as well say he’s the reason Coventry have been on a good run, but that wouldn’t be the case either.

I'm with you on VIP , the chances he had last night were really good and yet he didn't convert one, really hope he does come good but I'm not sure on the evidence so far. Yates would have been heavily criticised on here for missing those chances last night.

Yates will go to derby. 1 year left on contract. It makes sense. Plus Eustace has openly said he wants him next season. It will come down to if they stay up I suppose.

He doesn’t seem suited to how we play. Most of our play is down the sides with crosses into the box. He’s rarely available for those crosses. A lot of the time he makes runs away from the ball towards the far post and behind defenders, so has no chance of getting on the end of the crosses. When he does make a run into space between the CBs he gets there just too late. He tends to react once the ball’s been played rather than instinctively know which space to attack.

Maybe it will come with time. In fairness he has improved as we’ve improved under Sheehan. At least he got into the positions against Plymouth, even if he missed. But he obviously needs more time to learn how to be effective for us. He does look good when he’s fed the ball centrally and can make the space for a shot. But we don’t play that way often. And with Cullen behind him, threaded passes into the box are going to be rarer than hen’s teeth.

Edit - also he was served a shit sandwich under Williams as he was so isolated. It’ll obviously take time to adjust to how we’re now playing.
