The first session might have been evened up by two late wickets, but there’s no doubting who took the afternoon session.

It really was a stupid decision to bowl first. Hey ho. Four days to go.
Data driven decision apparently. The last six Test wins at Hedingley have been won by the side batting second. So a road of a wicket, 28°c temperature and clear blue sky has little relevance nowadays. Test cricket aye 🤷

The highest first innings score in those 6 matches was 329.

England won the last 5 of those 6 matches.

History aye. 😂

India is looking for quick runs now, aiming for 600 to put England under pressure. Dodgy weather is expected later, perfect for Bumrah.

I would have bet my left toe on India getting 600 before play this morning. Pant got to his hundred, then seemed intent on pressing the self-destruct button. Stokes has bowled England back into this. Bumrah with the new ball, though...

Take Bumrah out of this Indian bowling attack, and it looks a bit average; even Siraj is struggling.
It’s an intriguing game now, England have been excellent today but we’re only ever one wicket away from losing the rest for 50.
