Not on the bench!

Didn't get that one given Fulton was on there and hasn't played for a few weeks.

Remember the hype around his signing? How we pulled off a coup getting it done early before bigger clubs came in, and then him getting called up to senior Sweden squad...he was the direct attacking midfielder we were crying out for..

womp womp...

Hardly played and can't make the matchday squad by end of September.

If he's not injured it's a poor decision in my opinion. Playing for Sweden less than 6 months ago , and now can't get into our matchday squad ahead of Fulton. Hope we don't ruin his career by our reluctance to play him. Think he should be our 10 option , because we desperately need one at the moment.

Been a lot of bigging up of our new signings.

He’s looked decent when he’s come off the bench, strange one if he isn’t injured.

Probably not helped by what appears to be his natural attacking midfield position being ignored in the way we want to play.

A lot of people are saying he is an attacking midfielder/no 10.....he was a central midfielder at his previous club that occasionally played out wide.

In the last 4 seasons, he has only played 8 games as an attacking central midfielder.

Central midfielder and attacking midfielder are not two completely different things, right? You can be an attack minded central midfielder, like Widdell, or a defensive central midfielder, like, like Stamenic.

You said he’s also been played out wide. What do you think it is about his attributes that made them do that? His attacking or defensive abilities?

He hasn’t played much for us, but when he has, where has he played and in what areas of the pitch has he tried to operate?

End of rhetorical questions…

I think he’s a victim of our current style of play. The two 8s don’t suit him. Unlucky really that the manager who came in just after he signed doesn’t play a formation with his position. Regardless of that though, I think he still needs time to adjust physically but isn’t getting the games to do it.

We have got a silly amount of midfielders. I questioned it during the window and its now evident that we have players sitting idle whilst we are still deficient elsewhere.
He was signed under a different manager and system. Luke Williams played that number 10 with Cullen just behind Vipotnik, whereas Sheehan doesn’t play a 10 which I would say Widell is more suited to. Galbraith I could see going right back.

Fair points.

I still haven't seen enough of him to put my finger on what type of midfielder he is. He does seem to have a good awareness although does lose the ball on times.....he has shown glimpses of a good touch and a bit of bite in him.

He's played more in the pressing 2 when used with us and has been pushed out wide after a substation a couple of times.

He is young and in a new country so he does deserve a bit of slack in that regards.

I’ll stick my neck out and say that there’s a very good player there. Had he been on the bench he could have been an option today. A manager should be able to tactically mix it surely and not be bound by a favourite system.
