I'm lucky I s'pose and did all the European F1 back in the 80's and 90's.Sports events are getting ridiculous now. I’m a huge fan of F1 and used to go to Silverstone every year - not any longer. The booking system is rammed and there is dynamic pricing - you’re looking at £500-900 for most grandstand seats. Each. General admission (where you don’t get a seat, you stand somewhere around the track) is £300. For one day. Oh, and if you want to park at the circuit, it’s £120 per day. No, that’s not a typo. £360 to park your car for the weekend.
It’s become an absolute joke, I’m lucky as I could afford it, but it’s really put me off. You’re easily looking at £3k to take a family there for the weekend and that’s before you factor in any accommodation or camping. 10-15 years ago it was something like £100 for general admission for 3 days and parking was something like £20. The price hikes we see aren’t right.
It's not just summer holidays. Yesterday I booked myself a 2-night stay in Portugal in December and the return flight with easyJet was £28 (Bristol>Faro). When I read your post, I noticed that I still had their flight schedule open on my laptop so I had a quick look at Autumn half term prices and you can get a bargain Bristol>Faro return 26th October>2nd November for a truly eye-watering £432 FFS!Another one is summer holidays during term time etc. Absolutely scandalous that families are getting priced out taking their kids abroad.
That's just a piss take! The travel industry needs a massive shake up with the actual consumer put at the head of the queue when it comes to value for money instead of getting ripped off. It's not just summer holidays. Absolutely scandalous. My December trip is £260 in total which covers flights, car hire, accommodation and parking at Bristol Airport - and I didn't go for the cheapest accommodation option in my chosen hotel either so I could have done the whole trip for £215 which is almost exactly 1/2 of the flights alone on those half-term dates.
Yes, and their baggage dimensions are not compatible with other mainstream airlines so your normal cabin bags are too big and checked bags are lower weight. I saw a bloke at Belfast airport snapping the handle off his cabin bag and then stamping the wheels off. Then he stamped on his dismembered bag to get it into the baggage guide and then, of course, he couldn’t get it back out. He provided great entertainment for dozens of people who were entranced by his meltdown. That's just a piss take! Don't get me started with the likes of easy jet, the initial cost of the flight looks like a bargain until you start adding all the other stuff on to the booking..
I think I'd turn around and go home if that happened to me. I'm wondering if you could put all your stuff in a bin liner and squash it in to those things they use to measure the size of peoples luggageYes, and their baggage dimensions are not compatible with other mainstream airlines so your normal cabin bags are too big and checked bags are lower weight. To be fair to easyJet, both their underseat and overhead luggage dimension limits are bigger than Ryanair, Jet2 and KLM who all fly from Bristol and they don't have any weight limits either. In April, I went to Madeira for 4 nights on easyJet with just a free underseat bag which held 2 cameras, a big zoom lens (Canon 400/100), a pair of binoculars, over ear Sony Bluetooth headphones in a hard case and a Samsung 10 inch tablet plus all my clothing for 4 days, just in one of theseYes, and their baggage dimensions are not compatible with other mainstream airlines so your normal cabin bags are too big and checked bags are lower weight.
