Can you imagine that was announced? You’d all pass out from laughing.

Yet plenty of you are willing to accept your country, our country, being ruled by those next door, why is that?

Because we’ve been programmed to believe we can’t go it alone? Because they give us a few bob pocket money every year? You’ve been coerced, same as countless women who are treated the same by their abusive partners. It’s not right.

Bring on the league of Wales (for the simpletons).

Let's hope that yesterday's result is the first step along the way to us becoming independent.

Never thought I'd say that myself 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

It’ll be a long old road but it’ll happen one day, I’m sure of it. All three Celtic nations now being governed by their own party and people. Warms the cockles aye ❤️

Time to put an end to the English elite ruling the Celts.

It goes back to us being conquered, and subject to an act of incorporation in 1536 (I think). Scotland, never conquered has an act of union. Our self confidence and identity as a nation has never been fostered (look at the lack of transport link North to South). South Wales has more in common with Bristol than Mold, and North Wales more in common with Liverpool than Llanelli...well to be fair, no one has anything in common with Llanelli, the odd mutants that they are...😆.

When you then look at the influx of English and the way we were brought up with English history and exceptionalism, the enormous population difference and an English Prince ruling over his 'Principality'...well, it's more than a long road, it's a chasm, moat, 1000 foot wall and a Cerberus waiting at the end. Plus the Welsh 'committeeman' (always men) is a revolting, arrogant and incompetent beast, so we'd have to retain better talent somehow.

I always believed the propaganda that was indoctrinated that we couldn't go it alone. Now I don't.. Anyone that has lived in Jockland will know that does feel like a different country, taught its own history, with its own laws and customs. The language is so important, which is why anti people are determined to ridicule, belittle and eradicate it. That need to be aggressively defended and grown. Until we can unite North and South, and change a lot of attitudes, we're on the back foot. I'll almost certainly not see it, I hope some of you folks do.

Oh, and the English chose Cardiff as their Administrative Centre in 1955, because they knew they were a bunch of selfish c***s that would ruin everything...

I don’t disagree with the sentiment but you’re better than that Neathy, equating it to abuse of females/males/partners/whatever.

Same old jingoistic claptrap but in the end how will it actually work.

How will prosper in our splendid isolationism.

I mean there’s no danger of this anyway much of the plaid vote will have no interest in pursuing a policy of flag waving bs.

Stronger as a union all day long.

This mentality is no different to reform. Nationalism is nothing to celebrate it always leads to division.

‘UppaWales’ or something, innit.

We need a f*cking massive investment to make it worthwhile, in terms of energy, health, housing, etc. It won’t happen either way.

I love Wales. I’d love us to be able to be independent (although I’m proud to be British). It won’t happen.

And no, I didn’t vote for any right wing party.

Why would you start off that post the way you did, if you’d love us to be independent? Ridiculing us is what our masters in Westminster do.

The thought of Wales ever being an independent country terrifies some, but we need to be embracing it, we’re not that little helpless country that we’ve been fed. We are a giant, we just need to believe in ourselves.

Hugely significant that the Reform vote share was less than a fifth in both Cardiff constituencies and just over a quarter in Swansea. Bit different in Newport and Wrexham. You can see the cross border influence (you mention above), now that Plaid are to the fore. It's going to be a battle. It has to be a battle.

There are plenty of examples of independent countries with populations smaller than Wales. Luxembourg have less than 700,000, for example.

UppaWales is basically it in a nutshell.

Come on the boys!

Hopeless

Absolutely, we’ve got to start standing up and believing. This defeatist attitude will just see us relying on handouts and taps on the head from Westminster otherwise.

Where’s our £4b from HS2? Completely mugged us off about that, gave it to Scotland then told us to do one. What about the nonsensical “Crown Estate” money, the Jocks don’t pay it but we have to. Get tae fuck.
