Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr
All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.
Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.
It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.
The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.
I was expecting NM to comfortably beat Kazakhstan tonight so a draw wouldn’t have been any good for us, but it’s 0-0 at half time.
If it does stay like that it’s important that we don’t get tonked here because goal difference will be the decider and we’re currently 5 behind them - going into...
I am, because if we can’t beat Liechtenstein then we’ve got no business talking about going to the World Cup and we’re pretty much done in terms of getting second place anyway.
Finishing second gives us a better chance of a home semi final though, which could be important.
Anyway drawing with Belgium doesn’t really do anything for us now - barring a major shock they’re going to win their last two games (against Kazakhstan & Liechtenstein) so we can only pass them if...
All depends on how we get on on Monday. Belgium have Liechtenstein and Kazakhstan to play so you’ll presume they’ll get 6 points.
If we beat Belgium then NM will be in a position where they’ll have to win in Cardiff to have a chance of finishing in the top 2.
If we don’t beat Belgium then NM...
Belgium 0-0 Macedonia after an hour. If they can hold out for a draw that would be a great result for us. At least in terms of winning the group, not so good if we’re battling NM for second.
It was the crazy Kaepernick game against the packers. Got very lucky with some last minute resale tickets for about $100 and obviously picked an excellent one!
I’m patiently waiting for them to come back to the UK.
Yeah as mentioned we have to arrange friendlies now. Given the way the groups have been arranged this time around I think there's only 5 teams we could have actually played (Poland, Romania, Moldova & Gibraltar are the others) without finding a non-UEFA opponent again as well.
Big game in our group on Friday night as well, Belgium home to North Macedonia.
I guess a draw would be the best outcome for us as if we want to win the group then we need Belgium to drop points somewhere. That does mean we would need to beat NM in the final home game to get second place though...
I think it was Gareth Phillips’ book that summed up our history as 40 years as a second division side only interrupted by Adolf Hitler, followed by 40 years as a 3rd & 4th division team interrupted only by John Toshack.
That was like the Russell Martin special. We'd pass it around at the back, invite the pressure and look like we were about to give the ball away in our own box, then we'd manage to work an intricate passing move together to get the ball out to a winger with a chance to attack but instead of...
Williams was doing absolutely fine until Christmas last year. If we’re in a similar position again then we’ll be solidly in mid table and that would be completely acceptable. We probably wouldn’t be a very exciting season, but not something to be turfing the manager out for.
What do you mean the hardest first set of matches? Compared to who? We’ve played four top half teams and five bottom half, including the teams in 21st, 23rd & 24th.
I also have no idea what you mean about consistent goalscorers? Were Piroe, McBurnie & Bony not then?
9 games played, 3 wins, 3 draws, 3 defeats. Exactly the same record we had this time last season. Our squad definitely has more depth than we did this time last year but not convinced we're good enough to challenge for the top 6.
