Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr
All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.
Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.
It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.
The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.
I get that and a loss today doesn’t damage us really, but people are underestimating this Leicester side. They’ve put up 22 shots on target in their last 2 games, we’ll get blitzed if we aren’t careful.
I’d have probably gone for this starting XI at home next weekend though, I’m not opposed to...
I know lots of people wanted this kind of 11 and I’m happy to see us play some of these players but I really hope we’re not being too naive here. Yes, in all likelihood we will stay up but we don’t want to go running around like headless chickens and getting battered.
Nice to see Walta get a chance, like the idea of him and Widell pressing. I hope we use Stamenic as an actual holding midfielder, sometimes there’s a gap at the base of midfield that Sheffield United exploited, we won’t get away with that today.
He was never really going to improve much off the ball in my opinion. His physical attributes mean he’ll never be a good presser but what he has improved at is creating chances. Got the same amount of big chances created as McBurnie but is on 5 less assists. That’s just unlucky and perhaps a...
If it’s true they were asking for 15 million in January, I can see the new clause being in and around 20 with the condition that he reaches 20 league goals (if that is how clauses can work). That would give us brilliant scope to get in some new attacking talent and maybe a defender or 2. Crazy...
They’ve played pretty well recently, putting up plenty of shots and shots on target against Preston, Watford and Sheffield Wednesday. They seem to have real trouble scoring despite their chances and can’t keep goals out at the other end.
We’ll definitely be competitive but I think to win this...
I think it might be a tougher game than it looks on the weekend so having a ref who we’ve never won under doesn’t help. Leicester haven’t been getting results but generally they still create enough chances and Mavididi, Fatawu and even Daka (despite his goal record) are all capable to being very...
It’s not too surprising to see given the squad they have should be competing at the top. It’s taken them a while but their quality is now showing. Puts into perspective the challenge we have trying to get near the play offs.
For the record I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having a style of play and my preference would be for us to play possession football. I don’t think @Copamundial is saying anything against Matos and I understand the scepticism given that we don’t seem to be as ideologically driven as we...
Most of the issues you list above can be solved by recruitment. Remember, we were building a Sheehan team last summer and I don’t think he was too interested in possession as a method of controlling games. The fact that we were happy to have Burgess and Cabango as a partnership who are far too...
Not sure this squad needs a full overhaul. Players like Widell and Stamenic have been brought in to develop and we have to give them that time to show what level they can reach. What we do need in my opinion are some different profiles from the ones we have now. The current midfield are all too...
We’re capable of winning this one but I’m going for another 2-2 draw. They still have wingers who can hurt you and Jordan Ayew is bound to score against us. Vipotnik to score and Widell to get his first for us.
There has been a definite improvement in attacking output, the numbers don’t lie, we have improved in almost every metric since Matos has come in. All the set piece goals in the league we’ve scored this season have come in the 24 games that Matos has managed us. We’re also scoring more goals...
I might be in the minority but I think Idah looks at his best for us when he’s out wide taking on his man. I know he might not want to play there but I honestly think he could suit the RW role quite well.
To be fair, we were up against a team that are much better than us at the moment even with a few of their players out. Also think the lack of possession was somewhat purposeful today, we went with a low block to try and limit them.
I agree though, we can look like headless chickens at times...
I’d argue the plan right now is for Matos to use this current squad to the best of his ability before implementing what he really wants to do in the summer. You can see at times that we want to try and build out from the back but our current CB partnership is not comfortable enough on the ball...
I thought we did admirably today and you certainly can’t fault our commitment. Boro are arguably the toughest attacking team to play against in terms of intensity and we were put through the wringer. When we had the ball we used it well, although we keep using the counter-press well but not...
I don’t put any stock in the appearance clause theory for Walta. I think Matos would have dropped him altogether if he didn’t rate him. There’s a reason he makes the bench and started for us against Preston. Matos probably saw him in that game and thought that he needed to bulk up a bit. End of...
