Last time you bought a newspaper.

Our bedtime excitement these days extends only as far as attempting Saturday's Daily Mail crossword. £1.60 a week. I don't even read the bleedin' thing.

    Best music/record intros ...

Lots of suggestions already that I bloody adore. So I'm flailing around for those not mentioned. "Tie Your Mother Down" by Queen. "Book of Brilliant Things" by Simple Minds. (And, because it's the best song I ever heard on the back seat of a Morris Marina...) "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" by Led...

Anything happen at school today, son?

It sounds like he snapped, yes. A bad day at the office, for sure. Mortifying. Edit: as there are a number of parties involved. Perhaps he's considered a danger to them as well as to himself.

Anything happen at school today, son?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3w14w8xz2jo.amp Presumably we can't discuss matters still being investigated by the police? Pity. It sounds like a cracker that would've had Grange Hill's censors foaming at the mouth.

Kelly Jones in concert BBC 2

Stereophonics, like Yes, and early Johnny Rotten for me are filed under - great music, crap vocals. Frustrating but I just can't abide them. I don't mind Geddy Lee, like. Or latter day Rotten. Odd, I know 😀

To be honest they don't sound very gay. My queer friends are always bloody singing and dancing.

    Plans for Valentines Day...

I'm going to watch an episode of Traitors and then I'm going to eat pizza. Mrs Bear will be right by my side. But no hanky panky cos her hip has given up the ghost. Sad face.

    Health Minister Andrew Gwynne

My first wife's family were from Gorton. Scary place. If he's speaking to constituents like that then he needs his bumps feeling.

    Abba

Wasn't it called "Daisy Jones & The Six"? Netflix, I think. Edit: the Fleetwood Mac one, I meant.

    Au Vodka

On a similar slant. I was at a football match yesterday and there was a lady advertising a new drink. Forgot the name. It was basically whisky with cinnamon. "That sounds awful" I said. "It is", she said. I reckon the public's appetite for shyte drinks is at an all-time peak.

    NFL 2024

Someone said that it's the Super Bowl tonight. I'd have known this once, but old age has kicked in. Because I'll be in bed by the time the game starts I'm watching a replay of a 2022 wild card match between Cincinnati and the Raiders. The Raiders were in the playoffs in 2022? Sheesh, I have...

Coming to a Lidl near you?

I used to frequent a Waitrose in Worcester. It had a wine bar and a cocktail bar. Never saw any bother. 🤣

    Pensions Planning

I reckon Martin Lewis' piece about taking 25% tax free then lumping the rest into annuity/drawdown might've got a few folks excited. And another nod for compounding. I didn't seriously pay into a pension until I was well into my forties, reeling from a brutal divorce settlement. I *think* I'll...

Finding Out When Someone Passed Away

I thought ancestry just gave the three month period that the death was registered in. Though of course purchasing a death certificate is an option. Was there a burial?

Finding Out When Someone Passed Away

Do you need to know the exact date or just an approximation? (I.e. the three month period the death was registered).

    65. Cancer. I used to quite like Tygers of Pantang back in the period he played with them,

    Dacia Cars

We've had Dacias on the driveway for years. Basically a cheaper, heavier Clio. They're perfectly fine, and very reasonable. (I only found out last year it is pronounced Dachia).
