A lot of people blamed Abraham for our problems up front when it was clear that Clement's style of play was the problem. He probably wasn't top-top level but he's gone on to have a very decent career overall.

That particular choice says more about the manager TBH. As we've seen in recent games, Sheehan's decision making isn't perfect.

Managing the Message: How Swansea City Is Curating Its Power Narrative

My concern would be if Cravatt and Co are hanging onto Dimi as "their football guy" in much the same way as Kaplan and Co still depended on Jenkins after their takeover. When one individual holds so much sway not much good tends to come of it IMO, especially individuals with such, let's say well...

    Cardiff or Wrexham ?

Possibly an element of truth to that as most Swans fans under 30 will have no real frame of reference to Cardiff as anything than that other Welsh team we tend to beat a lot. The whole "Derby" thing has been very one sided for pushing 15-20 years now and it might have lost its spice for those...

Probably no more true than the idea that we paid £6m for him.

    Russell Martin

By the sounds of it he did his usual trick of dispensing with his "process" just to get the result. Players previously frozen out recalled, a more direct and aggressive way of playing. He'll swap back when he thinks the heat is off just like he normally does.

    S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Birmingham City 1 Swansea City 0 | Att: 27,441 | The EFL Championship | St Andrew’s Stadium

The squad we had last season should have finished top ten. The club will be targeting more than that this time around given the money invested.

Yep. I'm definitely getting similar vibes. The component parts are there but they haven't quite clicked yet and the coach could maybe do with a bit more faith in some elements of it. People forget that we lost four out of our first eight league games that season.

Yes, because that's what I said. It was not uncommon for us to start slowing up from about the 60th minute onwards and play things cagey. Mostly we got away with it, sometimes we didn't. Unless you're 3-0 up and cruising then no matter who the manager is there's no sense in it for me.

A game management issue lets us down for the second weekend in a row. It's far from a trait unique to Sheehan, we've been here many times with managers over the years, even back to Brendan, but I cannot fathom why we try to see games out instead doing the opposite and going on the...

    Žan Vipotnik - Swansea’s Number 9

It's becoming increasingly obvious that Andy Fisher's biggest problem was Russell Martin. When asked to play in a straightforward way instead of a suicidally stupid one he's proven himself to be a capable keeper, both here and when out on loan. Kept us in the game against Plymouth, made a save...

    Žan Vipotnik - Swansea’s Number 9

The quality and quantity of service has improved for sure. A full year to settle in a foreign country after basically being made redundant probably helps as well. I'll maintain that he might have got to this point sooner with a bit more backing from the managers he's had during tougher times...

    Žan Vipotnik - Swansea’s Number 9

Confidence. He's playing like he knows his manager has got confidence in him, like he's got confidence in himself and his team mates. It's a huge thing for players, especially forwards. Dragging a player in and out of the side no matter how he plays and, let's be honest, playing an inferior...

    Russell Martin

I think I'm enjoying the Rangers thing more as he would obviously have thought that winning in Scotland would be a doddle on the road to salvaging his reputation. The fact that even being remotely competitive in a fairly average league has proven to be well beyond his skillset is just "chef's...

I am slightly concerned with how quickly people are rushing to write off Widell. Agree completely that he needs minutes.

Alan Sheehan on Hull | Reaction

I don't get the sense from Sheehan that he's a bullshitter. That might not equate to him being a great coach or manager, but we may at least be able to depend upon an honest appraisal.

    Graham Potter

I agree that it has a lot to do with it, although perhaps not totally. Guardiola has been successful at three clubs, none of which have had American ownership. I do concur with the idea that clubs owned by Americans have tried to follow his example, but Europeans are just as open to the same...

    Graham Potter

I would tend to agree. Guardiola hasn't really achieved much in football without a collosal budget and/or Lionel Messi to help him out. Certainly he doesn't seem to have many answers to recent developments from the likes of Klopp and Slot, although time may make a fool out of that statement. I...
