    The ‘Vítor Matos’ Managerial Thread

There’s been more discussion of this clause than there has about any other part of this appointment. What the hell is everyone arguing about? I’ve obviously missed something.

    The ‘Vítor Matos’ Managerial Thread

As I pointed out last time someone asked this, Chris Davies operated at a significantly higher level for years now than Matos. He was assistant manager at. Celtic, Leicester and Spurs. Matos has been an assistant for a few months before they were sacked. And now a dozen games.

Taking the Christ out of Christmas

That’s your excuse when ‘fruity December treat’ appears on your bank statement is it Darr? 😂😂😂

Taking the Christ out of Christmas

They’ve ‘renamed Mince Pies’ as well. Apparently they used to be called ‘Christmas Pies’. Quite where they were ever called that outside the fevered imaginations of the Mail and similar who knows. I’m in my late 50s and they’ve always been called Mince Pies everywhere I’ve ever been… It’s like...

Mel was a director of the club just before the takeover and was very much around in the early years of the new set up / Trust. People like David Farmer were also around. From memory he was club president following the takeover. He’d been on the board for some years before that.

Well Brendan himself would presumably be a huge stretch but there’s a whole world of options between Brendan and a manager with 12 games in total in the Portuguese second division.

Taking the Christ out of Christmas

That Tesco aren’t calling stuff ‘Christmas Trees’. They have a range all marked Christmas Trees, and then within that, a variety of ‘Evergreen’, ‘Fir’, ‘Silver’, ‘decorated’ etc etc etc. there are dozens of them just inside the entrance of our Tesco, all with Christmas written all over them.

We weren’t very buttoned up and silent with Hellberg.

Taking the Christ out of Christmas

We’ve tended to do it the other way - leave the lights etc up for all of January for exactly the same reason. Makes it all a bit brighter. January is a long month! Christmas is always special when there are young kids. The ‘kids’ in our family are late teens now so it’s different although my...

In the early days of the ‘glory years’ we had people like Mel Nurse and similar around. The Board acquired a hell of a lot of football knowledge as we went through the divisions. By the time we reached the championship and then the premier league there were years and years of experience between...

    The ‘Vítor Matos’ Managerial Thread

Vital Swansea site is bigging up how wonderful this bloke is. And they have been fed a lot of info from (rather obvious) club sources recently.

    The ‘Vítor Matos’ Managerial Thread

When Sheehan was sacked I posted about the possibility of doing something creative with ownership packages etc. obvs with Brendan or similar in mind. I genuinely thought we’d avoid this sort of appointment like the plague. I’m surprised. Getting it wrong costs a fortune. Not only in management...

That would be something worth celebrating. That article title is a bit misleading though as Klopp was praising his ability to act as a connection between their academy and first team. Not quite the same as say8ng he’d be a great head coach.

I could understand this appointment if we also appointed an experienced director of football above him.

Tesco is a five minute walk. Waitrose is 20 minutes… I’m lazy. Thanks for the young bit though. 😉

Taking the Christ out of Christmas

Losing your touch Darran. That particular nonsense has been doing the rounds for at least three days. In all seriousness though, I wish someone would pass the message ‘Christmas is cancelled by Tesco’ to our local Tesco. I was in there yesterday and every aisle is now full of Christmas cards...

Ah, ok. The reason that the Board are important here btw (which is why I thought you were making the point you did) is because they are the ones that actually sign off recommendations made to them by Gorringe etc. and I’m not sure they would have the expertise to say ‘no’. It seems to me that...

Didn’t say that. Said the Board not people at the club. Board is just various US businessmen (and Martin Morgan who does obviously know more). People like gorringe are not on the Board.
