    Budget November 2025

But even mistakes and competence are subjective. To be clear, I’m not suggesting the current government is perfect. I’m not even suggesting they’ve been good. If it wouldn't be such a catastrophe for the country as a whole I’d root for Reform next time. I’ll be more or less retiring by then so I won’t have to work for the fuckers for long. And there’s a perverse part of me that would like to see them come up against the reality of actually governing...

Yes. I never said otherwise. People can do or feel whatever they want. That includes me. And you. And everyone else. Doesn’t mean we all have to agree.

Ah well in that case I agree. Sad old men trying to relive what they see as their glory years. You see it all over the internet every day.

I wouldn’t argue that point. But successive governments m of whichever party, are scared to do what needs to be done because they’re afraid of reactions like of this thread. This budget is a case in point.

Yup. It’s just that our generation has been replaced by the next one doing much the same thing. That never lands well.

It’s easy to see reading this how populism takes hold. Russel T Davies nailed it years ago in Years and Years.

It’ll still be way way cheaper than petrol or diesel. And it’s not coming in for two and a half years at least.

I didn’t give it much thought but I did vaguely think the £1500 a year you quoted seemed a bit steep. :ROFLMAO:

    What Ewe Watching

The first four episodes of the final season of Stranger Things are now on Netflix. They’re on my weekend watchlist.

I’d be surprised if they weren’t investigating. I’d also be surprised if it was deliberate.

I actually flinched when the news broke about the early leak yesterday. I felt really sorry for whoever it was who hit send out uploaded it or what we they did to it.

For those wondering how the electric car PPM or eVED (as us cool kids are now calling it) will work, the consultation document is at the link. It’s a riveting read I’m sure you’ll agree https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/69282ac1a245b0985f034197/eVED_Consultation.pdf...

    For Darters Out There

I’ve been to a couple of these exhibitions at the Mecca. They are definitely exhibitions so don’t expect serious competition but they’re a good laugh and the players are generally on good form and enjoying themselves too.

To be honest, eugenics is the logical end point of that line of argument. There’s no other conclusion. Yes, have kids or more kids but only the right people should have kids or more kids. As the youngest of a family of six kids who would have been right in the firing line of that line of...

Well no but it goes into the consolidated fund from which all public spending is allocated. So in a roundabout way. Roundabout. Geddit.

PHEVs are generally heavier so the theory is they cause more wear and tear on the roads.
