The January 2026 Transfer Window Thread

Somebody put up a video of his goals at Burnley when we loaned him. I noticed the vast majority of goals featured him dropping his shoulder, coming inside the full-back and shooting from the edge of the area. I didn't see him try that once in his limited appearances for us. Not sure if that's...

How much do you want to bet that Sheehan pushed for every bad signing that the club made while he was here, while he had nothing to do with any successful signing?

That's not what I'm saying. Having Santos on the books meant we at least had 2 senior CB's for early friendlies etc if Burgess hadn't signed. Also signing Santos on a free meant we didn't look as desperate to selling clubs who would know they had us over a barrel. Look at what we paid for...

    X and Grok

I've always enjoyed the thought experiments of 'what would the world today be like if..?' What would the world be like today if Hitler had never existed, things like that. I'd say being able to see what the world would be like today if the internet had never been invented would be a fascinating...

The January 2026 Transfer Window Thread

I know you love a transfer and the idea of signing someone purely as backup/insurance/cup player doesn't get your motor running, but it doesn't mean it wasn't a sensible signing. If Santos hadn't got his unfortunate injury and had been able to play in the League Cup games, we'd have more of an...

Alternative view, he was a cheap signing giving us cover and someone to play if other deals fell through (Cabango was the only senior CB under contract when Santos signed). You'd have been the first screaming if we hadn't signed a player like Santos and the deal for Burgess or Casey fell through.

It's January and they're on their 4th managerial appointment of the season. That may be the dictionary definition of dysfunctional.

    Santos to Reading

Some people are really negative about a player who was signed for cover/in case other deals fell through and who barely saw the pitch for us, which is exactly what we would have wanted when we signed him. If we can get a fee for him and break even against signing on fee/wages, that's a complete...

It would be a stunning result if the beaten-up sixth seed defeats the one seed, on a short week against a well-rested and far less injury hit team. I'm expecting a comfortable Seahawks victory. If the Niners somehow win this game, the closest comparison I can think of would be the 2011 Giants...

So the club 1 place above us in the table don't want him back? Obviously players can be more successful at some clubs than others, but it doesn't suggest he'd be some kind of magic bullet signing for us. Mind you, he scored 7 goals for Sheffield United last season, we can only dream of that...

I thought people were hyping Wales up a bit based off of one goal off the bench against lower league opposition, but he's had some more chances with Idah injured and they've been really encouraging. I agree there's no chance he's going out on loan with Idah injured. We apparently have very...

    NFL 2025

I'm not quite sure how they pulled that off to be honest. It may have as much to do with the Eagles offence being poor as the Niners doing well. Now that Hurts doesn't seem to want to take off running as much, he holds that offence back. You could see the difference between him and Purdy. Their...

The fact he was able to complete 60 minutes after so long without playing shows he did a fine job of staying in football shape.

Good stuff from Ward, Wales, Key and Inoussa for that goal. Lovely quick passing and moving.
