The January 2026 Transfer Window Thread

I'm guessing that's what he'll be looking at? I know he's the go-to example for this and it's a long time ago now, but almost none of us would have said Ben Davies was ready to be involved in the first team squad at the end of our first PL season.

S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Watford FC v Swansea City FC | 3pm, 31st Jan 26 | The EFL Championship | Vicarage Road, Watford

Given the gap between games allows for more recovery and it's another away game, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the exact same starting 11 as against Hull. Maybe Widdell in for Cullen.

The January 2026 Transfer Window Thread

I think Galbraith is a better midfielder than right-back, but we don't have anyone else to play at RB given Key's regression. Plus the balance in midfield looks better at the moment (although I don't think Galbraith has played in midfield since Matos was appointed, so perhaps he'd get that...

It's pretty damning if we don't have a youngster deemed good enough to be emergency CB cover as our 4th option at the position (assuming Ward is considered 3rd choice, we do need someone if he's considered RB only).

    What Ewe Watching

I don't think so mate. The Mandalorian and Grogu film is out in May (presumably in cinemas and shortly after on Disney+). Jon Favreau has said the scripts for a 4th season are all written, but I don't think any of it has been filmed. So if there is another series, as nothing has been confirmed...

The January 2026 Transfer Window Thread

As Smurph said, he's not playing because Vipotnik is playing and scoring at a level far exceeding his first season here. There's no doubt in my mind that Idah was signed to be our main striker this season. A club like us doesn't spend as much as we did (wherever in the suggested fee paid it...

What are our realistic ambitions ?

Absolutely not trying to get rid of him. If we have a storming second half of the season, of course a relegated club would take a look at him. His Klopp background makes him more visible, I doubt he'd have been on our radar without that. A relegated PL club wanted Russell Martin after two years...

The January 2026 Transfer Window Thread

This season Idah has a minutes per goal rate of 204 minutes in the Championship, with most of his appearances coming off the bench. Kone's rate is 386 minutes, almost double Idah's, while playing for a team that scores more goals than us. We are lucky that Vipotnik has done so well this season...

What are our realistic ambitions ?

Would it ironically be a bad thing if we have a very strong second half of the season and finish just outside the playoffs (not that I see that happening)? Matos' links with Klopp means he'll be well known around the league and a really strong finish to the season could make him an attractive...

    Burns Night - Haggis

Don't have it very often, but I love it. I'd say a good test would be if you like black pudding. If you don't, I doubt you'll like haggis.

What are our realistic ambitions ?

Sunderland seem to have done really well on the transfers they made in the summer, although granted they signed a lot of players for a lot of money! We also did well in the summer of 2011, bringing in Graham, Vorm, Routledge and Caulker, all of whom played significant roles that season. The...

The despair of a Blackburn fan

While I don't blame them for lack of knowledge of another team in the division (I'm not sure I knew any of their players looking at the line-up), you'd have to be pretty dull to not have heard of the then joint highest scorer in the division...

    Vipotnik - Top Scorer (Championship)

I believe an offer of £15m would be immediately accepted for any of our players, and rightly so.
