Walta will do just fine with us. He cost us 3M and I have no doubt he will get goals and create for us. He is 22 and will have a long contract so will have time to settle and/or develop. He will get praise, he will get pelters I'm sure but he clearly has talent, age on his side and has come in...

Was there but all a bit of a blur. I remember the games in the rounds leading up to it better. Wycombe at home Matthew Rush-What a player he was. Good days.

Great days. A lot more pride in the team as a fan back then despite being in the 3rd division. Early 90s from Frankie taking over 👌

Not at all but he certainly arrived as a Midfielder and ended up playing centre half. I checked Transfermarkt and they had John Hughes marked up as a centre back when he was actually a centre forward. It appears that these places online are just going by what they have found online from places...

The January 2026 Transfer Window Thread - Now Closed!

Their a million miles away from the previous owners and their pro active approach needs to be applauded and respected. They will make mistakes but they seem to pull the trigger quickly if needs be. We can discuss as much as we want but I feel we are in good hands with these new owners. They will...

I apologise, it was myself who mentioned Keith Walker. It angled off from Finnish players to trialists to Keith Walker. Some might have enjoyed it mind 🤣

Yeah some players seemed versatile but players moving positions from one to another and sticking is not as common I would think. Didnt our old goalkeeper Brian Murphy move from outfield to goalkeeper during his youth days at Citeh? I think Cardiff had similar with Josh Magennis but from goalie...

Even had a spell as a striker. Another player was Andy Melville.

He did become a copper. He went to Merthyr for a bit after us. The partnership with him and Harris was as good as you could get in the 3rd tier. Luckily the Bosman rule wasn't in place in 1996 otherwise he would have walked as a free agent. He later signed a contract which I believe his presence...

What saddens me the most here is that a player with such a history with us is being looked back on information online and being taken as actual fact. Keith Walker,Harris,Coughlin and Cornforth were heroes of mine in my early days of supporting the Swans and to not remember them, their roles and...

🤣 History being rewritten....literally. Luckily the people who were around when he signed will know the story and situation regards Keith Walker and how he ended up as a centre half with us. I will also say, he never played in attack. I would also guess that Berwick would have John Hughes down...

It's getting a little boring now but Keith Walker was never a CB when arrived and was not versatile to play there initially. During the period of the early 90s, we went through a dilemma of needing a centre half and we were forced to play Walker there and it turned into an inspirational move for...

Don't let fact and truth get in the way. Unfortunately we have a few who can't handle the truth but it's absolute fact that he came here as a central midfielder.

Thank you Colin, your knowledge and information is excellent. I got the 300k part wrong though 🤣 I never remembered or had knowledge of Jack O'Donnell. Walker was an absolute player for us and you can't forget about a player like him easily if you were around at the time.

Yes, 300k for the 3 of them.

Goes to prove you can't always rely on that. He was certainly signed as a central midfielder and as above John Hughes along with Chalmers as a striker. John Hughes later become a centre half. Different days, spending 300k was huge for us back in the day.
