    Josh Key

This is largely what I was alluding to above Hull away on Saturday seems a good opportunity to try it out

    Josh Key

The "inside full back" that LW has Key playing is frankly an awful idea, Key *is* good at gliding past players with the ball at his feet, but if you want to encourage that side of his game then a player coming in from full back to take up the defensive midfield position when Grimes inevitably...

    Southampton

I will never celebrate another person losing their job, but RM and Southampton's premier league season has been a train wreck that you couldn't help watching week after week. Just because I won't celebrate him getting sacked doesn't mean that I feel any pity for him, the man was complicit in...

    Ronald The Show Pony

I remember when he first came here, he was demanding Naughton to look for him with through balls or balls dropped over the top and he looked dangerous as hell every time he got the ball. Now its hard to tell if we are going to get Ronald, Ronaldo or Ronald McDonald in any given game.

    Williams out

Cooper played effective football but do not delude yourself into thinking it was entertaining football. The majority of the fan base were unhappy with his style of play for a reason. Yes he did superbly when he took over Forest to get them promoted, but his side here heavily relied on the...

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Sunderland 3 | The EFL Championship

Cabango is fine when asked to play as a conventional central defender. If you ask him to win his aerial duels and then move the ball on to someone else who can actually be responsible for possession and create opportunities he is a solid defender. If you ask him to play it out from the back...

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Sunderland 3 | The EFL Championship

Player ratings: Vigouroux: 7 Distribution was decent but not his best, no chance with any of the goals consistently left to fend for himself and sometimes I feel sorry for him. Tymon: 2 The left back often is left back... way out of position. This time he didn't justify it with any good...

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Sunderland 3 | The EFL Championship

Am I furious about losing? No Am I furious about the manner of the loss? Absofuckinglutely Our collective footballing IQ in that second half was appalling. Too many players trying to dribble or do clever flicks or being caught miles out of position, everything the opposite of what we did for...

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Sunderland 3 | The EFL Championship

Key gives away another daft free kick, dribbles past two and then tries to go past a third and loses it and brings down the other player. The pass was on to put Ronald 1v1 with the full back but he just doesn't look up when he goes into "Messi mode"

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Sunderland 3 | The EFL Championship

Those are errors that compounded on the original issue. First goal: Tymon sticks out a lazy leg giving the defender an easy chance to go over it to win a free kick. Second goal: Grimes tries to dribble past two players when under pressure Third: Collectively almost everyone stops tracking runners

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Sunderland 3 | The EFL Championship

Fitness isn't the problem its the collective decision making. About nine or ten times in the second half alone players trying to be clever with a flick or trying to dribble past two or three players means a turn over of possession in a dangerous part of the pitch with many players out of position.

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Sunderland 3 | The EFL Championship

Its been the story of our entire second half in fairness. Decision making has been wrong for too many players in the entirety of the half.

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Sunderland 3 | The EFL Championship

A worldie that. All comes from Grimes trying to dribble the ball rather than passing when under pressure.

Vigs taking some sting out of it with a tactical "injury" Eom and Bianchini about to come on

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Sunderland 3 | The EFL Championship

It was also his decision making after losing the ball, the rugby tackle to bring down their player and take a yellow card was completely unnecessary when there were two other defenders available behind him

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Sunderland 3 | The EFL Championship

I feel you are selling Franco short, he is being asked to play the higher of the two midfielders and to break up play higher up the pitch as a result. It was exactly that sort of action which saw him pinch the ball and the defender to pull him down for the free kick that Cullen scored from. He...

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Sunderland 3 | The EFL Championship

Half time thoughts: Vipotnik's best game so far as an overall showing, he has taken down balls from deep and held up play and brought others into play. He has had one chance and he took it excellently. Cullen's free kick was Sigurdsson-esque, you won't see a better free kick than that all...
