The words of Steve Cooper were clear enough after the Swans surrendered with nothing much more than a whimper at Bournemouth and that was that we got what we deserved after yet another disappointing performance. It is not the first time in recent weeks that Cooper has talked about a performance that...

What we're more interested in, Coops, is what you're going to do to pull it around. Nobody thought we'd go the rest of the season without getting beat once or twice. What's massively more worrying is that suddenly we look like a Sunday League team and you don't seem to have any answers.

It's starting to feel like the Covid lockdown gave our players the break we needed last season, and the lack of one this year is beginning to tell.

Are we in the type of situation Bielsa teams used to be? Out of the blocks screaming but unable to see it through to the end?

Having a small squad is bad enough, then we have a coach that doesn't rotate and we've played twice a week since the season started. I'm starting to believe we have done brilliantly under those conditions.

Cooper's inexperience of league football is really starting to show though.

He says Whittaker has done well in training yet he hasn't played him apart from a bit part v Man City where he scored. Looked our best forward by a mile last night so why is he labouring with Lowe/Ayew?

Apart from Connor and Cabango, the rest hopefully including Ayew, will now get two weeks rest in the international break, and this is the hope I'm clinging on to, and the hope it will somehow disrupt Watford.

The fear thought is that this break will give Brentford a chance to regroup and shake off their poor form.

The Sky commentators were talking about fixture congestion last night and were praising Cooper for being ready for it because of his experience at the U-17 WC where they played a similar number of games in a 31 day period

Which completely overlooked the reality of a Championship fixture list

Sky commentators still think we play the same kind of football we did between 2007 & 2014. The amount of times I've heard our football praised this season seconds before the latest attempt to lob the ball forward is unreal.

Yeah, 2-3 games a week for 3 weeks is so much different to playing the same frequency for 8 months. I often find the commentary a little odd.

Remember when we used to rest in possession as described by Brendan Rodgers? Pass and move football and let the opposition chase the football. We now play hoof and stand still football and prepare for the next onslaught.

All opposition fans "yeah everyone can have 70% possession if you pass it along the back 4 most of the game".

We had a team with Dutch and Spanish players at the heart and probably the only English player to be able to dictate the tempo like Leon. We are an average championship style football team now. That sucks but it's made better by winning, so now it just sucks.

The games of the last couple of months have been so difficult to watch, I turned off last night before half time. I posted one of these  in the match thread after the team announcement, Cooper is trolling us.

Not sure about that.

Punt, lamp, belt and whang the ball forward, yes. Lob, not so much.

We are still trying to play between the lines and get the wing backs into the box. This does not work all the time when a team plays a high line. This high line invites a long ball. VDH became good at the long diagonal following practice, as are most Centre Backs in the EPL. Marc is a good distributor but is injured and I don't see a Centre Back who comfortably dictates the play. Ryan I think is struggling still. Grimes did well there against Man City. With Woodman not relishing clearances we are looking shaky and giving away possession at the back. It is not insurmountable and we have a good midfield that will hopefully settle the centre backs down into a more settled approach soon.
