Bazball football

That’s a bit of an exaggeration with all due respect. They were chucking everything at us but in response, instead of sitting back and hoping for the best under Williams and Sheehan we aggressively went after a third goal and in honesty should have scored 4 goals.
Totally agree.

I wasn't in the slightest bit worried in the second half. They had that one glaring chance that Vig saved, but other than that we had them where we wanted them and as you say we could have scored a couple more. There was clearly an emphasis on engaging with the opposition much higher up the pitch, and that pleased me greatly.

I don't think it was a perfect performance by any means, but as a template to build on it did nicely for me.

F*cking hell, one of the many (valid) criticisms of our team over recent months has been a lack of effort and application, yesterday we ran our bollocks off for 90 mins and thoroughly deserved to win, yet some people are complaining pressing like that is unsustainable.

I smell a cakeism-flavoured agenda here.
I totally agree - I think Matos is trying to shake off the walking football we’ve been subjected to for four years and I’m amazed how quickly this change is starting to appear. Great for the players and amazing from a new manager with none of his (chosen) backroom staff. I think we’ve found a diamond in the rough.

He's 3 games in to his tenure!
Wasn't a classic yesterday but there were signs and we got the important 3 points.

Let's not be naive either way here.

Think it's a bit early to talk about a diamond etc, but I am genuinely encouraged by yesterday. He'd had a week on the training ground to drill them and you could clearly see some impact there yesterday. That's all anyone can ask for.

The only reason I won't get too carried away is that the core of this group have a habit of resting on their laurels after a while and slipping back into poor habits - what'll determine how successful Matos is, is if he can stop that happening long term.

Nonetheless, we have a glimmer of hope to cling to, for the time being at least.

I was expecting an Oxford onslaught from about an hour but it never materialised because we were very good when they had the ball.
It finally happened at 88 minutes by which time they were very frustrated.
Then Idah kept the ball in the corner for two and a half of the 5 added minutes which really pissed them off.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game yesterday, I sat on my seat in the East and saw some real effort and energy from the team. Hopefully Tuesday we carry on with the good work from yesterday and give us fans more to be excited about. And… take a bow Josh Tymon. What a goal and had a great game too.
