The optics don't look good.

Working people struggling and Deputy Labour Leader buying properties for fun.

MP in a Manchester constituency and claims her main home is in Brighton with the seagulls.

Labour largesse.

She took bad advice, that I believe but she will have to pay the price (literally and figuratively)

Allegedly didn't disclose all her transaction details and was advised how to proceed with the purchase.

I’ll be keeping an eye on this with the proverbial bowl of popcorn.

The feedback from the conveyancer is only as good as the inputs provided to them, just in the same way as a self assessment result is generated. Let’s see what the ethics report highlights. It’s not a good look either way and raises so many questions.

How this will go:

Ethics report finds Rayner culpable - what a thieving bitch she should be sacked.

Ethics report clears Rayner - well that’s obviously a whitewash he’s in Starmer’s pocket. The thieving bitch should be sacked.

There is a third option whereby the ethics report finds some failings but not enough to cross a threshold into code breaches. In which case the response will obviously be that the thieving bitch should be sacked.

Or option four: she resigns as deputy PM and deputy leader of the Labour Party.

Well, well, well. What a surprise that a gobby Northern working class single mother has finally been hounded out of a top political job, no doubt by the same sort of people who about 4 years ago were telling her to cross her legs or wear a longer skirt in the Commons, because it was getting them all hot and bothered. Basic Instinct was mentioned too if I recall correctly.

She was never welcome in there, she's not part of the club. They'll be delighted they've finally got her at last.

This is absolutely 100% spot on. Anyone who thinks this hounding isn’t reeking of classism, sexism and outright misogyny is deluded. Anyone who thinks a male, middle class minister, Labour, conservative or otherwise, would be hounded in the same way for the same perceived “offence” is similarly deluded. I’ve read the letter from the ethics adviser in full. I urge everyone else to do the same before drawing a conclusion or jumping in with a view.

What's this got to do with anyone else other than her?

The ethics adviser concluded she should have taken independent tax advice as advised. It's something many of us on here have to do regularly.

The unfortunate side effects of this are more instability in government and inevitable drift of voters towards Reform. I’m not sure that the autumn statement is going to do much to help the situation either.
