Angela Rayner Stamp Duty

This is absolutely 100% spot on. Anyone who thinks this hounding isn’t reeking of classism, sexism and outright misogyny is deluded. Anyone who thinks a male, middle class minister, Labour, conservative or otherwise, would be hounded in the same way for the same perceived “offence” is similarly deluded. I’ve read the letter from the ethics adviser in full. I urge everyone else to do the same before drawing a conclusion or jumping in with a view.
And then think of Jenprick, and the Frog Faced C**t. Two genuine 24 carat corrupt pieces of shit, and one or other of which will be next Tory leader.

The unfortunate side effects of this are more instability in government and inevitable drift of voters towards Reform. I’m not sure that the autumn statement is going to do much to help the situation either.
It’s not an autumn statement, it’s a budget. I don’t disagree with your general point. But this isn’t driven by politics anymore. It’s very close to an attempted coup driven by right wing extremists. All of whom will feign outrage at the suggestion that they’re right wing extremists. I’m not particularly defending the government, but they’re doing mostly the right things at the right pace. But they need to be far bolder in challenging the social media driven prevailing narrative instead of appeasing it. And the Rayner “scandal” is just utter bollocks.

Someone in government has advised not to fight fire with fire. I also don’t consider that the right choice.

Also, anyone who thinks the deputy prime minister automatically takes over from the prime minister is an idiot. The role has no constitutional basis and never has.

For me this whole affair is simple. If you are an important member of the government you make absolutely sure whatever you are doing in the way of property transactions, buying or selling shares etc is squeaky clean and you check and check again or, and this comes to my second point, you delegate the task to someone completely suitable (e.g. in Angela Rayner's case a solicitor).

My second point is if you are DPM, Housing Minister and Deputy Party Leader how the feck do you have time to sort out a property transaction yourself WITHOUT using a delegate?

I'm sure Ms. Rayner didn't set out to deliberately avoid paying the full dues but the lesson here has to be you must be squeaky clean. Why don't these people understand this?

All of these government scandals now and over recent years have really pee'd me off. We pay these people to govern not to waste time and money defending their actions that often are personal in nature. It's getting just like "The Thick of It"!

Starmer promised us better

Rayner was going to be slaughtered for her house build targets which was tales of fairies so she is best out if it now.

She made a fundamental error and had to go. Simple as.
However, I don't remember the media hounding the Tory life peer Michelle Mone to the same extent when her and her husband's company supplied faulty products to the NHS during the covid crisis on the back of a £200 million contract, were subsequently sued by the government, then she lied about her involvement and transferring £29 million of the profits into a trust that she would personally benefit from.
She's still a life peer in the House of Lords.
£29 million of public money squirelled away or £40,000 in mistakenly missing tax. Hmmmm....

See also: Priti Patel, found to be a bully, and in breach of the Ministerial Code. Johnson, PM at the time, simply chose to do nothing. That was that.

You're either in "the club", or you're not. Rayner wasn't, so she pays with her job. That's how it works.

And people will still vote for the countries elite, whichever colour rosette they wear. We will never be their concern, it will always be about their millionaire mates, no matter what they say in front of the camera.

We must have the most gullible people in the world, outside of the yanks.

But let’s keep hounding the working class who dare enter into their world. Stop punching down, stand up for the people that would stand up for us.

Arseholes.

If there was a GE tomorrow who would you vote for.
Serious question,I asked the same on X because personally at this moment in time I’d struggle.
