It is being reported today that Birmingham City are about to step up their interest in Swans defender Jake Bidwell and could be set to test the Swans resolve with a move for the player. Bidwell has been out of favour at the Swansea.com stadium in recent weeks and there was speculation before Christmas...

if we can get Maatsen or A N Other then let him go I think. Surely 600-750k which should help with O'riley

It's becoming clear either him, or the club have been actively trying part company. I'd hazard a guess Martin doesn't fancy him, wants more pace.

Not sure I can see Bidwell commanding that kind of fee?

He's a free agent in the summer isn't he?

he must do surely - seasoned at this level, good assist record. If he was under contract he's got to be north of 1million surely?

No idea why our fans don’t rate him. The only player we have who can cross a ball.

You’re right, but with defence coaching so good these days, imo balls into the box are becoming a thing of the past. Another thing on that, is that the best time to put the kettle on is when there’s a corner. And then you’ve got set piece dead balls and throw ins.

I actually rate him. We look so much more solid when he plays.
I dread to think the difference in goals conceded with him in and not out

Through the ages defenders can’t defend when they’re running towards their own goal. Bidwell gives us that. Yes he might get caught offside now and again but he’s the only player we have that can deliver a ball in to the space between the keeper and the centre half. He can also get in to that space when the ball is delivered from the other side, like we used to do pre-Laird when Connor was there.

Would have to have a considerable improvement waiting in the wings. Very foolish to be getting rid of a solid defender when at the moment our defence is anything but.

It looks like fans are back in for next home game then? We have only missed out on one home game, albeit being a money spinner FA Cup tie I suppose, but could strengthen our position a bit in these deals hopefully.
