Republic of Ireland striker Shane Long has been linked with a deadline day move away from Southampton today.
The 34-year-old could seal a St. Mary's exit before this evening's deadline, with Championship side Bournemouth the potential destination.
The Athletic reports that Long could join the Cherries on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy
The move would be part of a deal that will see Bournemouth striker Josh King head to Southampton on a permanent deal.
Long, who joined the club in 2014, has found himself out of favour this season - starting just one game.
And with Ireland set to kick off their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign in March, Long will be hoping to get some crucial game time with the promotion-chasing side.
The move could see him follow in the footsteps of Boys in Green teammate Conor Hourihane to the Championship after the Corkman moved on loan to Swansea City last month.
And the midfielder has already hit the ground running, scoring two goals in three games for the Welsh side.
