• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Considering our U21's convincingly beat both teams this season, is it a sign of no ambition or a lack of finance from our owners. Included in the article is the following,

A number of other clubs have also applied for their Academies to move up a Category, while others are planning to. Here is the latest we are able to reveal:

  • Ipswich Town: Have applied to move up from Category Two to One. This decision is still pending, because a further auditor visit is required.
  • Huddersfield Town: Promoted from Category Three to Two.
  • Oxford United: Have had their application to move from Category Three to Two rejected following an audit.
  • Luton Town: Also had their application to move up to Category Two refused, because their facilities came up short.
  • Bournemouth: Intend to apply for Category One and are confident of gaining that status in a year’s time.
  • Wrexham: Have been promoted from Category Four to Three.
Another change in the academy system is that there are plans for Cat 1 and Cat 2 clubs to play each other in a new competition.

Going back to a Cat 1 academy would cost millions per year in additional running costs. Millions that might have to come out of the first team budget.

Looks more like we're moving towards more of a Brentford model. Buy low, sell high.

I wouldn't say our club has: '' no ambition or a lack of finance from our owners.''

Past owners maybe, but alot has to change in the club on and off the field before we can get back to top status. Years of bad management, all over the board hasn't helped.
