• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Someone on twitter is saying that Tom and all his family flew to Barbados for Christmas and New Year.
I’ve no idea if that’s true but if it is fucking hell like.

Yes he did Dar, it was on itv this morning.

And yes it's one rule for us and one for them.

Being 100 he obviously hasn’t got that long left but that’s just plain silly.

Obviously it doesn't invalidate what he did last year (being an uplifting and positive influence in a craphole of a year) and I can understand the desire to have possibly one last holiday with your beloved Dad/Grandad, but really? Taking a 100-year old through airports and on planes in the middle of a pandemic known to be extremely dangerous for the elderly?

They could have booked a lovely house to rent in this country for all the family to get together in a safe way and spend time with him. Choosing to go abroad at this time just opens to the floodgates to abuse. If I was in their shoes, I'd be devastated now to think that taking him abroad may have been the reason he got pneumonia, thus couldn't have the vaccine and then caught Covid.

Ultimately, all the best to him and I hope he pulls through.

If you have the money, you have a 100 year old dad whose dream it is to travel to Barbados or wherever, and you are legally allowed to do it..if you say you wouldn't, you're a bloody liar.

This.
But I'd draw the line at Piers Morgan screaming for a xmas lockdown then fckn of to same place.

His Barbados trip was as much about British Airways PR as it was anything else.

Get well soon Captain.

Absolutely,Its shameful what these big corporations get up to, to make a bit of extra cash for their shareholders.

Fair point. If he said to his family that this trip was literally the one big wish he had while he was still alive and he didn't give a toss what the consequences were at this point in his life, then yes I probably would have done the same.

The odds of him still being around this time next year when this all 'might' have calmed down, even without the illness are not very high. People slagging the family off are fucking muppets.

Probably not the best idea to plaster it all over social media though, is it? You're just asking for abuse in the current climate.

Amazing that people can't go somewhere without reporting it to the world.
