Bristol is just fine, can't remember the last time I even looked at a holiday package which flew from Carfiff.

Bristol airport was a bugger to get back from 2 weeks ago. Road & M4 closures meant a journey time to Swansea of 2 hours 50 minutes. This was leaving the airport 10 minutes after midnight.

It's weighing up the extra cost of flying from scumdiff against the time & hassle of using a different airport. We will have flown from Bristol 3 times before the end of this year. Madeira & Malta are not possible from scumdiff.

I happily pay a couple of hundred pound more to fly from Cardiff for the exact same package as you can get from Bristol - appreciate not everyone can do this, though. Bristol airport is an absolute ball ache to get to, the traffic is insane whichever way you go, it seems. The airport is heaving, long queues for security and the bar is chaotic (most important part, obvs!).

Cardiff airport is a dream. Half hour away, park the car right outside the entrance, through security and at a coffee shop/bar with a beverage within 15 mins of arriving. I'll take that option, thanks!

I never consider Bristol, always Cardiff for me. If the destination I fancy doesn’t fly from Cardiff then I’ll change my destination. Nothing wrong with Cardiff airport in any description.

I wouldn’t say it would sway me away from a destination, but it plays a heavy part in my decision. Bristol is a last resort.

I avoid Bristol at all costs, for mostly the reasons quoted by MrSwerve. That said I haven’t used Cardiff since 2018, maybe 2019 when I used Qatar a few times. We don’t go on package holidays and therefore don’t use package holiday airlines, but if I did I would take Cardiff over Bristol whenever possible (subject to availability of destination and a decent flight time).

Given the choice, I will always pick Cardiff but it does have a smaller choice of destinations. In terms of price, Cardiff is usually more expensive and but it’s not always the case. When I flew to Malaga last year Cardiff was cheaper than Bristol and a much nicer experience, we caught the train from Port Talbot to Rhoose and then the Air Link bus and I think it cost about £8 single.

Cardiff is a much nicer experience than Bristol. I flew from the latter a few times last year and can’t say I enjoyed it. The journey up is a pain and punctuated with diversions and traffic “incidents” and closures, security etc is always a long winding queue and once you’re the other side, there’s hardly any seats while the bars and restaurants are heaving - awful place.
If the above wasn’t enough, Bristol just seems to be a money grab - and to boot (I didn’t realise until yesterday ) it’s owned by Macquarie the Australian Bank/fund who owned Thames Water and who currently own another water company. Enough said.

Bristol is an absolute ballache of an airport and I’d use Cardiff every time if they had a wider range of destinations.

Yes, the lack of destinations is a big problem, they need to expand them.
On a selfish note, it's absolutely ideal for me to come over and see the Swans. Two different airlines offering flights from Alicante, both pretty cheap outside the summer months when there's no football anyway. And the airport shuttle bus, then train is ideal for getting to my base in Baglan. With the lack of customers there on the way back, it's like having my own private airport! I know such an uneconomic proposition can't last, though.

You’re going to Baglan and you wouldn’t rather be delayed?

We've flown from Cardiff for the last few years, flying from there this year as well, nice and easy, early morning drive but it suits us, was gonna go to Malta last year until we saw that there wasn't any flights from Cardiff, so we went to Majorca instead, fuck driving to Bristol.
