Interesting as you say, quite often these days people accusing others of wrong doing are actually using the exact same methods as in this case, throw in a bit of media bias and it becomes really dangerous.

I don't know the legal significance of withdrawing her "truth defence" is but I'm not sure it means that she was telling fibs, and she's carrying on with her defence.

Pretty ironic that the Spectator runs an article slamming someone for making claims without evidence, when seeming to base their own article on a post by Guido of all people. Could their journo not be bothered to check that Banks had withdrawn a large part of his case, or did that not fit with their narrative of Brexiteers being treated meanly by nasty Remainers? If they had an Orwell Prize of their own they would have to return it for their substandard journalism.
