• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Evening all.
Been reading lately about these plug in ceramic heaters. Anyone got one, are they any good, cost to run.etc.
There is lots of info on the internet as usual, some of it conflicting. Just wondered if anyone had first hand knowledge of one. 🥶👍

There was a guy reviewing it alongside other types of heaters on Morning Live a couple of days ago, he said he was concerned at how hot the front panel got. He said he would be very careful of leaving it in a room unattended or with children or animals moving around.

You should be able to see it on iplayer, can't remember the day but it was earlier this week.

Thanks RJ, just had a quick look, interesting.👍

I bought 2 a couple of years ago. Tried them out, put them back in their boxes and they're still in the cupboard where I put them. As you may guess, I wasn't impressed but I may have gone to the wrong online source. Maybe I should try them again see if my first impressions were right. Probably should have gone to a store where you could try them out first.

Just been on YT, to look at reviews. Very sketchy. Will have to do a bit more research before I pull the trigger on any at the moment. Out of interest, what make did you go for K. 👍

My brother has one in the room he works in and it costs 45p an hour according to the in house display from the smart meter...is that cheap?

There was a review comparing ceramic heaters, fan heaters, oil radiators and central heating on one of the radio shows:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001dxtx

Quite thorough and there are other links that talk about heating the person rather than the room.
Ceramic heaters are great for a heat blast and you have to be close to them but the front does get really hot.

Not that cheap. Some are saying that they are around 7p/KWh, which is reasonable.
The guy on morning Live, reckons gas is still better bang for buck.

The guy on morning live is the same chap who does the sliced bread radio show that jack_lord was referring to

Here's a pic of one of them. Looks like they didn't have a brand, the box just said 'portable heater' 🤣🤣🤣 must have just been Chinese shite. Strangely enough, they gave me most of my money back but said they didn't want them returned. They must have known they were crap.

Ah! Right thanks for taking time to dig one out. Yeah, seen a few like that, seems like they maybe produced by the same company, with different branding. The one I've also seen is called Blaux, which seems ok, according to some reviews anyway. Cheers K.👍

There's two ladies I like to take to a Bernie Inn for a nice steak and chips in the company of Wifey of course and that's Suzanna and Caroline Langrishe
