Reading that Hull are spending 6M and other teams have been spending well it really does raise a few questions.

Coming off the back of covid and over a season without fans, we have spent some money but we seem to have spent what we have taken in, some teams have spent after selling an asset to offset that spend.....but it appears that some club are spending without selling.

It was going to be a tough enough season as it was but this spending in the championship is an head scratcher all things considered.

With talk of Wood and Piroe possibly moving on, I would think our spend could be another 5M minimum on top of what we have spent already especially if the 2 move on.

The money going around is absolutely madness in this league.

Hull got rich new owners 18 months ago and after their relegation and promotion have had to build back from scratch. Their wage bill on their last published accounts (21/22) was only £12.7m compared to our £26.1m for the same period. They were almost sustainable!

Pushed the boat out last season so will have caught up to us overspenders even with a decent fee for academy-product Lewis-Potter.

Early days yet but this season looks like one of the strongest Championship lineups for quite some time
