What changes would you make for the weekend? Bidwell back to move Manning into the back three is an obvious one for me and I think this game would be more suited to a midfield of Downes, Grimes and Smith (as much as I like Ntcham) but other than that it seems like a call for change off the back of one bad display?

I think this is where my opinion is different. Solid? I think we have made similar mistakes in many games but got away with them due to the standard of attackers in this league. The style of play we are told is taking some risks but we don't seem to be learning. I posted in another thread about some players being robotic to the style and not at ease. I'm not sure any of our defensive partnerships are totally at ease meaning there is always a weak link.

Well RM said Ben played well but after 2 games needed a rest having not played for a while. Agree Ben didn't do a lot wrong so if he means what he said then Ben should be back for Williams.

Bidwell back in, Downes for Smith, Ntcham in from the start and Cabango for Williams. Also consider resting Laird and giving Latibeaudiere a start. As for the bench, apart from Laird would have Obafemi and Whittaker and leave Cullen at home

This.

Our playing style requires a high defensive line. Any mistakes get punished.

Laird needs a rest as well as he's been quiet the last few games. That said, the interplay pass and move between him and Ntcham/Smith needs work as the ball often goes backwards when the forward one is on.

Cabango back in please.

Yes, Cabango back in for me too and definitely Downes. I think we may have beaten Reading with them in. Cabango wouldn't have been so easily bullied by Carroll and Downes is always alert to danger, instinctively seems to get in the right place and tidies things up. Those are probably the only changes I'd make. Agreed Laird could probably do with a rest but even below his best, I'd still rather have him in than any of our other RWB options tbh. I know he prefers the left but can Manning play RWB? For me, Ntcham must start.

Cabango needs to play instead of Bennet and i agree Downes for Smith or possibly Naughton who could also do with a break. These changes also provide a bit more pace, Smith and Bennet looked off the pace by some way last week. Laird must start as he is the only pacy player who takes on defences, last week he struggled and hopefully learnt a lesson.

I am still concerned about the way teams have opened us up and looking down on the Reading match its obvious that they play in behind right back. We desperately need two pacy wing backs in Jan if possible along with a CF.

I concur.
