6.30pm and it is magnificent to see sun giving it some welly :)
Hope all the Mums had a pleasant day as well.

Cut my grass again today. Second of the season. Mother in law was round for dinner so it served a dual purpose of keeping me out of the way.

Aye my first one last week was hard going. Proper thick and clumpy grass and still quite soft underfoot.

This is the most middle aged thread ever.

I made it worse for myself by starting too early in the day. Done a pitch inspection and thought, yeah it'll be okay, but in reality it was still a bit damp underfoot. Result was the grass wouldn't go into the collection box thing on the back, and i had to keep unblocking it every couple of meters.

Watch it rain or not be dry enough to cut it now for the next 5 or 6 weekends, and I'm back in the same boat again

We’re all laid up with this Covid thingy so don’t feel like doing much at all, I’m certainly not in the mood to put up the fences that we lost during Storm Eunice.

Can anyone recommend someone who can do the work?

Are you guys altering the height of the blade? Cut it at maximum height for the first one of the year.

I started with it on a high setting but it wasn’t satisfying enough for me so I went for leather and scalped it. I do the same thing every year. Back lawn is very patchy this year for some reason

See that's another on purpose thing i knew i was doing wrong, but i done it anyway.

It wasn't on the longest cut setting, but not the shortest either, closer to the short than long though.

I'm lucky this year, I've got a pass! Our lawn had got really crap over the last few years and had more moss than grass so we decided to have it dug up and new turf laid which happens this coming Wednesday! Not sure how long we need to leave it until it can have its first mow but a few months would be good! :D :D :D

I bought a strimmer and lo and behold I never use it now!
Battery powered cable free mower from Aldi was my best lockdown purchase.

Sorry to hear you are all laid up

Have you tried your local council for a "trusted tradesman" list?
My old man found a cracking jack of all trades in Carmarthen.

Remember when everyone on here used to talk about going out on the lash and now its all about the first grass cutof the season

We grew up!
