The first was a 12 and 14 year old in a firefight with cops

That ended after the 14 year old girl was shot, they run away from a children's home and broke into someone's house where they easily found the owners guns, including an AK-47.
The second where a woman shot her 5 year old son.

Someone opened their door and their young dog took the opportunity to run out, the woman across the street at the time tried to shoot the excited dog ending up her kid getting shot.
