Deserved, lets hope his injury isn't to bad and he gets some minutes between now and end of the season.

Signed until 2024.

LIAM CULLEN PENS NEW SWANSEA CITY CONTRACT

Swansea City striker Liam Cullen has signed a new contract to extend his stay with the club until at least 2024.

The deal also includes an option for an additional 12 months through to 2025.

Cullen’s previous deal had been due to expire in 2022.

The 21-year-old forward has netted three goals for the Swans, including a brace in last weekend’s FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest.

Cullen has made 17 first-team appearances since making his debut in the Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace in August 2018.

The academy product, who hails from Kilgetty near Tenby, has been on Swansea’s books since the age of eight.

He made his debut for the under-18s at the age of 13, and netted 17 goals in 21 appearances for the under-23s last term before being promoted to the senior squad by Steve Cooper.

The way he took both goals v Forest makes me wonder just how good he would be in a team that plays wingers.

I don't know where you can find the stats, but aren't we putting in more crosses than almost any other team in the division? I'm sure I've seen it listed as one of our strengths and I know Franks mentioned it in the interview quoted on this forum earlier today.

Bidwell and Manning are superb delivering from wide. Connor is improving. Bidwell's stats when we bought him for crossing accuracy were the best in the league if I remember right. When you add in Cullen's finish at Reading in 'that' game, he knows where the net is. Good move by the club, well worth any element of the gamble.

People have slagged off the academy for years about not producing Premier League quality players, but the quality of the PL is very very high and it’s difficult to produce players at that level. Looking at where the club is now, the players produced by the Academy has been very good and has stood the club in very good stead. If, and it’s a big IF the club could achieve promotion I’d immediately look to achieve Cat 1 status again.
