Last week I watched Julian Winter's interview and he mentioned that he'd given Brendan Rodgers and David Wagner's names to the Yanks during the interview stage as people that they could speak to regarding his previous Manager/CEO relationships.
My immediate thought was that if for any reason in the near future , or even medium term, Steve Cooper leaves his post, then Wagner might be his replacement due to this previous relationship with Winter. I therefore googled him to see what he was up to. I saw that he was manager of Schalke 04 so I dismissed this thought thinking he wouldn't leave them to come to the Swans.
Anyway, Shalke 04 have just sacked Wagner, so with a bit of a leap, this is potentially our next manager.

Have you put a few £ on it - right now I'd imagine the odds are generous

:) I don't suppose there will be any odds on Steve Cooper at the moment because we are doing so well. However, if anybody wants to offer me 100/1 on Wagner succeeding him whenever, I think I'd risk £2. Big money man me.

I don't think I would be too pleased about that.

Huddersfield were dire and in the last few games n the PLthey had 11 back defending and just hoofed the ball to the other half and just waited for it to come back!

Any new manager would in my view be the result of Cooper finding other employment. The circumstances under which Cooper would be relieved of his post are quite limited. Sacking managers regularly is a costly old business, a cost the Yanks would be unprepared to pay. Not that there's any justification for it at the moment, particularly for a guy who found himself out of his depth in the Premier League. The fact they remained in the league that season is more a reflection on how absolutely abysmal the bottom three were that season and that Carvahal absolutely bottled it, than with Wagner's managerial abilities. They had no business avoiding the drop that season.

Wagner‘s managerial abilities weren’t very much in evidence at Schalke. Having said that the club is rotten from top to bottom and he inherited a bunch of overpaid individuals. No wins in 18 games! Second division for them next season.
