With what's happening at Newcastle it has made me wonder how a member of the public acceses one.
I've seen many about that seem to be in a glass cabinet or have a key lock on them.
Do you still have to phone 999 to get a code?

Yes when you ring for an ambulance for a cardiac arrest, they ask if there is a defibrillator near by and give you the code to gain entry.

The defibrillator is very easy to use and tells you what to do step by step, unfortunately a lot of Defibs are provided by the community and maintenance is not costed into the overall costs, batteries are required to be replaced in a certain way to ensure they will work correctly.

Great tools which have saved many lives, the guy in Newcastle is now stabilised and on his way to hospital.
