Did you hear Nick Ferrari on LBC this morning?

Claming that the DVLA has 54,000 HGV applications sitting there waiting to be processed and that the HGV crisis/fuel shortage could be solved in one fell swoop if the good people of Swansea weren’t ‘shirking’ from home, sitting around drinking coffee and watching TV.

About 8:05 if you want to have a listen on catchup.

You need to deploy your PR machine son.

Oh dear. I will stand to the defence of the DVLA here.
I've recently had to renew my driving licence and log book.
I got them both back within a week.
No way are they shirking.

There's an agenda here surely?

That agenda being to deflect blame from this government at any cost. Civil servants are a particularly popular and easy target for them.

Not that it really differs from any government in that regard, it's just that they've realised they don't even need to try and hide it. A significant portion of the population will take it as gospel, not matter how transparent the lies are.

I'm not claiming the DVLA is perfect, although that's just an outsider's perspective. But trying to blame the HGV driver shortage on them is a particularly audacious claim.

Good post.

I wasn’t having a pop. I can’t stand Nick Ferrari. Last week he was berating the M25 protesters but at the same time failing to acknowledge their cause. Tabloid journalism on the wireless.

A spokesman or press officer or whatever from the DVLA should arrange a chat with him.

I know you weren't having a pop. I was just replying to the information you were relaying, I apologize if it came over I was "popping"👍

Just as well you did Dick. It now takes 3 years.

They’ve all training to drive HGVs.

I’m sure everyone’s very grateful for Mr Ferrari’s input.

Also, ewe’d be amazed how many fall for his stuff. My neighbours are both solicitors in their 50s and they listened to him coming back from Devon. They now believe it’s the DVLA’s fault.

Well 6 or 7 petrol stations temporarily closed is reported as a full scale fuel shortage in the media. I am sure the DVLA will be aware of the sensitivity here.

Tell em to join the club. It’s not of course (true that is) but that rarely actually matters.

Do you have a full scale girl shortage though?
