Great player in the times of the real "hard" men, and didn't take any prisoners himself.

RIP Saint.

Ironic Jimmy greaves has outlived him.
They were unmissable viewing.
RIP

Was at Anfield for his last game for the reds. As were many others on here in case you didn't know it.

An FA cup 4th rd tie Liverpool v Swansea City Jan 1971. And he scored.

I was there for that game also. The 3-0 scoreline didn't do us justice that day.

Thanks Gary I'd forgot it was his final game for Liverpool, but I did remember he came on as a sub and scored. They scored 2 very late goals that day.

4 future Swans were in the Liverpool team that day and 1 scored.

Can you name the 4 future Swans??

Yes remember that well. The Kop chanting St John after he scored. He and greavsie were great. RIP.

There was a poster outside a church in Liverpool saying, “What shall we do when the Lord cometh?” Somebody had written underneath, “Move St John to inside left”

A great player and character, RIP.

Don't now who played that game but a guess Toshack, Smith, Callaghan. Would the 4th be Boersma or Waddle?

Yep, Toshack, Callaghan, Smith and Hughes were the 4 future Swans, and Tosh scored their 1st goal.

RIP, the Saint and Greavsie was compulsory viewing for football mad kids back in the day.
