With the long expected arrival of Carl Rushworth in Swansea confirmed yesterday afternoon it was almost immediately revealed that Fulham were interested in a move for Steven Benda who has entered the last year of his contract at the club. Rushworth had a busy day as he signed a season long loan at the...

I really hope this isn’t true… we should be tieing Steven into a long term deal.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fulham come in for Piroe, Mitrovic is angling for a move away from the club and they will need a replacement

Think he would be happy to go.
He hasn't had a great deal of game time since he joined.
Only got a chance last year due to Fisher being poor.

This is shortsighted. The lad is a good young keeper. What do we do when the loaner goes back? Put Fisher back in goal?

This in spades! All I can say with some certainty is that the club here in Bremen would offer an extension to the contract to an injured player who could be needed in the future and has served the club well. Obviously with a few performance related clauses. Football’s a money business. We all know that. But show a little loyalty and it still goes a long way. Unless his agent has decided that pastures are greener elsewhere.

I agree with this as well.

Totally agree.

I know he's been said he may want out but I'm sure a decent conversation would sort it out. Explain we've got a loan coming in to cover his injury, but he is the long term number 1 and offer a new contract to cement this.

Seems a waste to let a keeper who's come through the youth system and is good enough to be number 1 leave for next to nothing.

Going to Fulham injured is a crap move for him too (football wise). Not sure how plans to break in under these circumstances.

Agree entirely, he was Swindon's player of the year when he spent a season on loan there.

In RM's first season he was very much thrown to the wolves with a side who had no clue how to play how he wanted to play and no clue how to defend while playing the way he wanted to play (the latter being true even after two years but hey ho). After replacing Fisher when RM was under serious pressure last season we saw no nonsense goalkeeping which coincided with an upturn of form.

The injury was the worst thing that could have happened to him and us, especially since it looked so innocuous but has turned out to require such a lengthy layoff. We likely wouldn't have dipped into the loan market for a keeper if he was fit for the start of the season and since we only have the Brighton keeper for 12 months after which we are left with Fisher and whatever comes up from the academy we absolutely should be trying to get Benda to sign a new deal.
