Gary was from Winch Wen . He was brought up by Winch Wen corner a few doors up from another Welsh International keeper Jack Kelsey. When I was about 11 all the local kids would make their way to Gary’s house in the summer to get autographs , programs etc

Is Winch Wen corner by the Jersey Arms ?

No the other end of Jersey Road there is a mini roundabout there Gary lived in the houses going down the hill on the right. It used to be the main road many moons ago

Is that the turn off to Trallwn ? I used to be near the Jersey Arms but it's been a very long time. My mum used to say that she hung out with his sister, Sheila if I remember correctly, she was a few years older than Gary.

As a kid I loved goalkeepers King, Dyer, Bonetti, Yashin, Kelsey, and of course Sprake.
