Gigs ‘25

Not often I get to see a number of bands live i like at a festival but this Thursday to Saturday looks pretty decent...

Manics
The Damned
PIL
The Chesterfield kings
Buzzcocks
Richard Hawley
Dead Kennedys
John Foggerty
The Hellacopters

Bilbao 2025

I’ve met Andy from The Chesterfield Kings and his wife Monica at Cheap Trick gigs in Canada a couple of times.
He’s an expert on all the equipment, amps, guitars etc. that The Beaties used.
He was backstage at one gig in Niagara Falls to run something past the legendary guitar tech Jim Survis who was working for Rick Nielsen at the time,Andy was writing a book called Beatles Gear and asked Jim a few questions.
He’s since written a Rolling Stones Gear book.
He also owns a posh guitar store in upstate New York,he recently had a custom Rickenbacker in Candy Apple Purple built for Steven Van Zandt.

I'm looking forward to seeing TCK again, not seen them since 2007.

My only concern is this festival runs from 9pm to 3am for 3 nights... going to be a hard slog but hopefully worth it

I'm seeing Maiden tomorrow but Bruce sounded appalling last night and the new drummer is struggling to step up too. Didnt think I'd ever say this back in the 00s when they just got better and better with age, but maybe they need to consider calling it a day. They always said they'd go on as long as their performances warranted it. The next 10 years is gonna be devastating for the metal genre. Gonna have to start listening to cover bands because the music of the current generation just doesn't do it for me

Decent festival 1st nighter.. not sure finishing at 3am then an hour coach ride back to our hotel is such a great idea now

Good performances from The Buzzcocks , The Damned, Dinosaur jr and Melisa Etheridge

Well they completely lost their way on at least 4 occasions, lesser musicians would've buckled but they pulled it back each time. It's either age or the new drummer, you never saw it happen 15 years ago. Bruce sounded good though

I used to think this and I get it but there are so many great rock and metal band out there it’s unreal.

Don’t think the Slayer Cardiff & London shows have sold well Ticketmaster been offering 50% off tickets, anyone looking for cheaper tickets look on Twickets also.

Anybody seen the Hellacopters before?.. I was quite impressed with them on Saturday considering I knew nothing about them.

Who was your highlight? Green Day obviously smashed it.
Both Green Day and Korn were outstanding. I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed Korn as they’ve mostly passed me by before. Sleep Token were fine but suffered in comparison to the other two headliners. I get that mystique is their gimmick but I’m not sure headlining festivals is for them given that they don’t interact at all. A lot of the crowd drifted away through their set.

Further down, Shinedown are a particular favourite of mine so I loved seeing them. Also very much enjoyed Within Temptation, Airborne, Bullet (shame it was the exact same set I saw them play in January), Sim, Crossfaith, Jinjer, Bleed from Within. Bastardane in either Dogtooth or Avalanche were a pleasant surprise too.
