When I were a lad, Halloween wasn't a thing and no-one had heard of trick or treat.
At this time of year, our thoughts were totally focused on making the best possible guy as a prop for our 'penny for the guy' efforts, raising money on street corners to buy fireworks. Also, a lot of effort went into adding material to the communal bonfire in the nearest patch of wasteground. The only date that mattered was November 5th.
How times have changed.
