Tragic, but who would paddleboard in that maelstrom..?..

I was thinking this knowing Haverfordwest and the wild Cleddau river, but the man who died was very experienced in doing events that needed a lot of endurance and skill.
I can only speculate that something went very wrong that normally wouldn't despite the poor conditions.

It's rocked the town and wider area.

So sad RIP

I know who she is.
She’s one of the loveliest people you’ll ever meet.

Horrendous tragedy. It's been felt far and wide.

It's coming out that Paul died trying to save the 2 women.
A few of my work colleagues are into paddle boarding and they all kind of know each other so they are very upset.
Spare a thought for all involved in recovering the bodies. It's beyond words.

I also have heard the woman arrested but who has since been released is lovely.

She is, and she led a lovely remembrance paddle for them this morning.

I knew Paul he was an absolute gent and a lovely guy, doesn't surprise me one bit that he went to the aid of his fellow Paddle boarders, absolutely tragic.
I worked with Paul over Corus/tata a few times, he also part owned a gym which used to be the old Ford Centre in Sandfields Port Talbot.

I know nothing about paddle boarding apart from it looking a lot of fun, but is it a pass time you'd do on a river? I really thought it was somin you'd do on the sea in decent conditions or even a large type lake, a fast flowing river in bad weather, surely isn't the place?

The last time I went white water rafting our raft got overtaken by a geezer on a SUP, which I thought was pretty ballsy/mad (admittedly the flow wasn't much). So I guess rivers aren't off limits provided you're either a good paddle boarder or a total adrenalin junky.
