Help,Top Rank Swansea

I think that there was a guitarist called Barry Hammett played there with one of the bands. Sadly passed away earlier this year. He also played with Johnny Kidd and the Pirates for a short while.

Was Tony Wyn Jones the resident dj there ? .

Remember there being the main disco/dance hall and a smaller enclosed secondary area upstairs .

Sorry cannot put names to the Band , but do remember them , last pint in the Prince of Wales before entering The Rank , tie and tidy shoes essential or no entry , good times .

Reading this been trying to remember when did being smartly dressed to get into night club stop. I remember seeing the arguments at doors with bouncers refusing entry telling them not smart enough

If I remember Top Rank became Ritzs , then Jumping Jacks and so on .
It became less formal as Ritzs ,The Valbonne and Barons seemed to have a more relaxed attitude .

Tried Harpers , now Sin City , once , never took to the place .

Hi thanks all, It wasnt Barry as we knew him. We remembered the singer was Connie. I said was it something Francis but i must be honest it doesnt ring a bell.
