• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

So, after completely closing gower for half a day, there's no footage available of any of it. Wtf
Wasted opportunity to show off our area. The council should have filmed it as an advertising vehicle at least

Took me over an hour to get to town from Mumbles on a road that was supposed to be open, Mumbles Road eastbound was the only way out of Mumbles. If we have it (Ironman) again, could they do the cycling and the running over Townhill and Morriston and give us a break please.
We already had the road closed on Friday and then again on Saturday and then this today.
I don’t want to come across as entitled at all, but only one road in and out of Mumbles and it’s blocked. Also most roads in Gower were closed too.
Rant over. 😉
Sorry not quite, that game yesterday must have upset me more than I realised. 😂

What arrangements were there for a fire engine or ambulance?

Congrats to all who participated (especially in the heat) but it was miserable getting around today.

Did make me wonder if South Wales could ever host the CW games though.

We’d probably just moan about it.

There's never a good time to host an event like that.
I will say though that the diversion signs worked well for me and I wasn't late to ground yesterday.

It's havoc down Pembs when the Tenby Ironman is on.

Apparently arrangements were in place in such circumstances.

Yesterday wasn’t so bad as Mumbles Road was open as far up as Sketty Lane and we could go through Sketty and up over the top and down Gors Avenue.

Apparently the event was worth about £2.5m to the Swansea economy but boo to it cos some people couldn’t get to Joe’s ice cream or something.

This is why Swansea doesn’t get nice things.

I hope you weren’t inconvenienced at all over the whole weekend. I mean that most sincerely. 👍

Graveyard of ambition, innit.

We went to the Secret Beach bar for dinner. Worked around the road closures. Didn’t moan about it. There was an event on see.

Oh and lol to the suggestion to send the athletes to Townhill and Morriston next time. Fine to inconvenience those east side types see as long as the well heeled folks of Mumbles and Gower aren’t put out in any way. Heaven forfend.

There's always something going on throughout the summer , 10k run, half marathon, Airshow, Ironman. More events here than in New York.
