A garage in Canoga Park
I met him down The Vetch once and I can’t lie I found him a bit strange.
Iconic though.

Like Daz, also met him on the north bank as he was on his way to climb up to the gantry, he stopped for a chat but found him great tbh. As a group of 15 yr olds we were bit starstruck.
Just seems a piece of my childhood is disappearing every other month.
RIP Motty....proper legend.

I also seen him climb the ladder for that dodgy looking scaffold gantry in the north bank.

RIP

RIP Motty. One of the few unbiased commentators, had a great way with words. I really enjoyed his commentaries, so sad.

RIP. I was 5 feet from the legendary sheepskin coat outside the Kassam after a game at Oxford. (I think it was the 3-0 Murphying we took off them) I'm not sure why he was there, an Oxford supporter maybe?

He was a Barnet fan according to Wikipedia

R.I.P. Motty.
Part of a childhood watching footy on TV

Met him at Goodison early 80s. Said he fancied us for the Cup that year. Think we lost 5 nil at home to Middlesbourgh in the next round week later 😅

Great commentator though
RIP

Another of the voices of our generation’s childhood gone. Actually he spanned a couple of generations. A legend. Barry Davies was a far better commentator mind.

Like you I grew up as a child, with Motty being one of a great array of commentators. I think they all bought a bit of something different in their style.
I liked Peter Jones calmness, Brian Moore was enthusiastic but not to the point of being overdramatic. Barry Davies, Hugh Johns, Gerald Sinsrtradt.
We really were spoiled by the dearth of excellent commentators back in the 80s
RIP Motty.

RIP Motty.

And not forgetting the superb Idwal Robling!
RIP Motty 🙏
