It is drip, drip, dripBeginning of the end, if this goes ahead.
In ten years time, half the fixture lists will probably be played in other countries.
All those "legacy" fans, as Americans like to call them, cut adrift in a chase for as many $ as possible.
Not sure if League 2 will have that much of a pullI don’t like it but I don’t have too much of a problem with one fixture being played in America per season in exchange for NBA etc coming here. As long as it’s not a big fixture.
I’m certain that within the next 5-10 years this will filter down to the Championship. Get ready for Wrexham vs Oxford Utd in Los Angeles in 2028.
A super league will happen, it’s only a matter of time. What fans want won’t come into it.What I will say is that it was encouraging how much Welsh/English fans of all clubs united to backlash against the super league proposal…I don’t think even the greediest of owners would dare push it too far in terms of globalisation.
Football is such an institution here that I think anything beyond one mediocre fixture in the US would receive such a negative reception that it would put people off any further expansion.
That's the problem though. It starts with one fixture. Then it's twice per season. Then a few years later tell you what, we may as well do half a dozen.I don’t like it but I don’t have too much of a problem with one fixture being played in America per season in exchange for NBA etc coming here. As long as it’s not a big fixture.
