Close to agreeing a deal to allow a league game to be played in Miami.

Beginning of the end, if this goes ahead.

In ten years time, half the fixture lists will probably be played in other countries.

All those "legacy" fans, as Americans like to call them, cut adrift in a chase for as many $ as possible.

It is drip, drip, drip

Inevitable and how this hasn't happened as of yet in the EPL, I dont know.

I am a hypocrite, I love the NFL and MLB games in London.

This is the thin end of the wedge though, the amount of American owners in the top 4 leagues must be creeping towards the number needed to get the changes they want

Chelsea owner had a right paddy a couple of years ago because his 'All Star' game proposal was rejected

Promotion and Relegation is not long for this world either

Just another example of football moving away from the traditional fanbase to one that encompasses people elsewhere.

One day the game will implode on itself and the clubs will turn around and realise that they have lost the people they then need most - the fans that were always there.

Create a super league quick, let it be played all over the world and leave the league system in the countries to those that deserve it more.

I don’t like it but I don’t have too much of a problem with one fixture being played in America per season in exchange for NBA etc coming here. As long as it’s not a big fixture.

I’m certain that within the next 5-10 years this will filter down to the Championship. Get ready for Wrexham vs Oxford Utd in Los Angeles in 2028.

Not sure if League 2 will have that much of a pull

🙂

What I will say is that it was encouraging how much Welsh/English fans of all clubs united to backlash against the super league proposal…I don’t think even the greediest of owners would dare push it too far in terms of globalisation.

Football is such an institution here that I think anything beyond one mediocre fixture in the US would receive such a negative reception that it would put people off any further expansion.

A super league will happen, it’s only a matter of time. What fans want won’t come into it.

That's the problem though. It starts with one fixture. Then it's twice per season. Then a few years later tell you what, we may as well do half a dozen.

The type of people behind this are never satisfied. They will always want more. Placating them is impossible.

The best thing to do is not to start.
